Missing resolution option with Linux

@cNFenix This works for me, but I’m also using Proton GE-Latest so I wonder, maybe that’s the reason why it works for me, and not the others… Can you try that and report back if it works for you too?

Downloaded and installed Proton GE along with all the settings suggested turn on and it worked! Just for safe measure turned off and test other proton layers and only GE worked. Which is just weird since the other Proton layers did not - you would think there isn’t that much of a difference… But hey at least it worked and is fixed for now. Thanks again to you both for the assistance!

Thanks for confirming @cNFenix

That’s because ProtonGE uses the latest dxvk and wine instructions, and is generally recommended over the regular Proton versions.

I also edited my solution to also recommend ProtonGE in case just the command alone doesn’t work.

Am I doing something wrong here?

I swear I’ve done everything but nothing has worked.

I had the same problem running the game in a Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOs
This code SteamDeck=0 command solved the problem

Hey, I can’t play this game on my steam Os device because the 1980x1200 resolution is not available in settings so it’s very unfortunate.

It will be a good addition.

I deleted my last post because a typo, but I made it work after downloading the latest ProtonGE release trough the “Wine Cellar’“ Decky plugin, applied it to the game (with the command above) and the correct 1920x1080 resolution appeared. Hope it works!

Hi,

I’m using proton GE latest and I’ve added the launch command but unfortunately max resolution is still 1920*800. I don’t understand why but solutions offered here do not seem to work.

The fact that it works for some people, but not for everybody, means one thing.

We have a problem.

What could be the problem?

  1. User error -For instance, a small typo somewhere, or even a blank space where it shouldn’t be, or improperly installed add-ons(Proton, Steam, etc.)
  2. Linux driver, kernel, or other software issue -Unfortunately this will be extremely hard to pinpoint, like for example, is Steam really taking advantage of the launch command? Are you really on the latest Mesa driver? Is any compatibility issues with your hardware/os combo? etc, etc, the with unknowns can only go up.

I’m sorry that it doesn’t work for everyone, obviously.
But the reality of things is such that no matter for how many people it actually works, including me, there will still be quite a few others for which it wont seal the deal.

For those who do -You are welcome.
For those who doesn’t -You may need to do some extra digging, unfortunately.

1st thing you might wanna do, is simply look for any missed steps, typos, or installation issues with either the game, steam, or any of the plugins.

If everything’s looking good, then look at the system, game, or steam logs, to try and find what’s going on when you launch the game.
Under Linux, the place to look for those is usually found in
~/.local/share/Steam/logs
or /var/log
Try and check the logs and see if you can find any smoking gun there, if not, try and share them with the community, see if somebody else might find something weird instead…

In conclusion, until we actually get a Linux native client for the game, there will pretty much always be a set of issues that may occur every now and then, and there will always be workarounds, and “fixes” that doesn’t really do justice to all.

A bit of free “poetry” from my side on the subject…
We are the so-called, and self proclaimed “early adopters” on the Linux gaming side of things, and some of us already knew what we were signing up for… It’s nearly there, but it’s still far from perfect regardless of how much I actually prefer it over the other alternatives.
Truth need to be said, Although it’s IMO "better”, I can’t stay blind to all the quirks related to it, and that’s just one of the examples.
When Linux native version is released, we may have a different set of issues, I’m fully aware of this, and thats absolutely normal, but until this happens, behind every workaround, there’s always a small chance of failure simply because of the complexity of how this systems actually work, and though how many translation layers these instructions are been translated, so that it could actually work on Linux.
Layers on top of layers, on top of more layers of binary data translated from one piece of code to another. DirectX to Vulkan, NtFS to Ext4 or BtrFS, etc. etc.

I’m having a similar issue although I’m playing on windows. I use an ROG Ally X on windows and connected to an egpu and monitor. My screen is 4k. If i use the full screen window option, the resolution only goes as high as 1920x1080 16:9. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you.
