I want to start off saying that I have completed everything Early Access has to offer currently and I am absolutely in love with this game. Here I will be focusing on the areas I feel need some tweaking and the biggest frustrations I had during my hours of gameplay.
Equipment: I feel there is a need to differentiate between armor types and affixes in a meaningful way; this could also be an incentive for all players to use certain pieces of gear that are not Plate … I saw a fellow Path of Exile player suggest having built in affixes on certain item types (and not necessarily in the broad categorization of light/medium/heavy):
“Maybe Broken Vow’s Mantle has a built-in affix of gain health on kill, while Eversol Knight Armor adds to poise defense. Both are plate but have different built-in affixes.”
A lightbulb lit up as I read it and I finally understood that farming for item bases is what was missing from my life. In this way, fixed stats could be scaled more towards build archetypes, while not locking you out of crafting for a different build:
Plate = poise, armor, health
Leather = stamina, stamina regen, attack speed
Cloth = focus gain/regen, elemental damage, elemental resistances (also light gear needs a buff/incentive to use idk)
Survivability should be increased on gear that gives less amount of damage mitigation currently. Maybe add a dodge % exclusive stat to medium armors. In the same way, if Cloth gear would be more spell caster stat oriented, add an exclusive affix that would cause % of damage taken to be removed from Focus before HP. Or the addition of a Barrier/Energy Shield stat value that would protect health.
Crafting/enchanting gear: I’ve previously been spoiled with deterministic crafting too much to not bring this up here.
Not being able to manage any rolls when enchanting, whether it becomes Rare or Cursed, and the chance that a good item will be forever ruined put me off going to Eleanor so much… I would just enchant a whole inventory of drops from Crucible, only to vendor all of them back to her.
It would be cool if we could increase the chances for certain affixes to roll on an item when enchanting. Maybe, given the way things work now, enchanting an item that has Gems already inserted in it would increase the chance of the affixes rolled to include that of the Gem?
Or maybe some other way to narrow the pool of stats that can roll?
As further item crafting potential, I would really like to be able to “salvage” or reroll the negative on a Cursed item (with materials that could be rare drops from bosses or Crucible - so again, a reason to farm certain mobs or areas). Or just add disenchanting. EZ
Gem Infusion: More item customization, it is odd to get one attempt per gear piece. You should be able to infuse the same piece of gear as many times as you want, while losing the previous gem and paying (more?) for the infusion again. Having to make a new weapon every time until you get good rolls is slow and very costly, especially if you’re crafting on items that are not at the vendor.
OR another cool suggestion I saw was being able to increase the % rolled by feeding the item more Gems of the same type.
Rune infusion: I see no reason why we couldn’t replace inserted runes at Eleanor (perhaps while destroying the inserted one) or move them around slots. I guess it’s more forgiving now that you can equip and try out the Runes on weapons you don’t have stats for after Patch #2…
Still, the default Rune skill cannot be replaced and it just makes your current weapon obsolete if you want to try out build variations on your character. (Could be just a frustration I have now since I ran out of content )
Low tier item repurpose(food/potions): There should be a possibility to either vendor multiple lower tier potions/foods to get a higher one, or an Alchemy/Stove recipe to upgrade smaller tiers into higher. Half my Consumable inventory is only taking up space at the moment, as item drops are too low tier to have any use.
Favorite Food/Consumable: There should be an option for the quick items to be a maximum of 3 or 4 favorites selected by player. That selection should not be filled up with items picked up from exploration, it just makes it tedious to scroll through whole available inventory.
Transmog: Add gear transmog, the art style is beautiful, the item sets in the game are gorgeous and I want them all on my character. Add option to not display helmet (cosmetics would be disabled in PvP mode).
Fast travel: I do not want to teleport everywhere, but as others suggested, I could get behind a “main” waypoint per macro area, especially as new regions will be added to the game.
Soo this is long enough for now, it’s just my two cents on what I feel would’ve made my time in the game even more enjoyable. I will continue coming back for future updates and patches to test things out and complain about item crafting .
