I may hoard most gear I pickup, but to encourage different builds this is kind of required.
This makes it so several houses are owned but they are filled with chests everywhere. Not only does it make it harder finding stuff but also negates having houses for anything else than storage.
Some suggestions are:
Have MUCH larger containers so fewer chests etc. are needed.
Combine all chests into one and the same view when opening one chest so that the contents of all chests can be viewed in the same view. With the existing sorting options this would help out a lot.
I would love to see the possibility to add e.g. cellar to houses which could act as one giant storage unit. This cellar does not have to be possible to walk into but simply open an inventory screen, just like with chests. Cellars would keep the lore intact and logical even if filled with thousands of items, versus having a chest with this much storage. Cellars would also make it possible to remove all other chests from houses, at least from a storage perspective.
Having upgradeable storage units to increase size. This would be one more thing to use wood and metal resources for.
I honestly like the physical storage system, in that I know where things are. I know what chests, or region of my storage layout I keep certain things so I can get to them quickly. If it was a ginormous shared storage, that would not be the case.
One or two houses out of the 5 is more than enough for extended storage I think. I am a hoarder too, but that doesn’t mean they owe us absolutely unlimited storage. Every so often, we as players should make a pass to clear out duplicates, lower quality or rank items, etc.
I had uploaded a video of my 2-house storage layout recently, and if you look at it you will see that though I keep a ton of things, there are chests that I have unused (the ones I don’t open) or ones with space in them still. And I have quite a bit of playtime that led to this acquirement.
And even with all that stuff I am hoarding, I still have about 3 houses not being used for Storage. I think we as the player need to take some responsibility for a bit of the management, and not just expect a bottomless pit we can pile stuff into infinitely.
I would however like to see some items that are not currently stackable, made to be stackable for the same items; like runes which have no variation for ones with the same name.
Yeah, I hear what you are saying, but by combining all storage chests into one single view, then using filters, sorting etc. I cannot see how that wouldn’t make it easier to view all your stuff.
Also, I am not talking about getting rid of the option to divide things if that is what a certain player still wants to do.
Absolutely, I agree on not having unlimited storage which is why I believe this should be done through some sort of upgrade, e.g. via the option to build a cellar, armory etc. for your houses. This way…
…no one is forced to use them if they prefer having the smaller chests of the current system.
…storage could be upgraded in several levels so it would not be unlimited, but if needed it can be expanded upon (to a point, but the max limit should be very high) multiple times.
