Knockdowns Are Kinda BS | Pure Strength Enjoyer Experience | Big Immersion Request

THE KNOCKDOWNS

It feels awfull when you get knocked down and you can’t get up fast enough to avoid a flury of incoming attacks. You basically get double or even tripple-punished for one mistake. It’s understandable when the knockdown accures after getting hit consecutively multiple times but a lot of enemies bring you down in one hit and then smack you viciously while your clancky ahh is trying to get up (I’m looking at you Bear Boss ).

PURE STRENGTH BUILDS ARE MALNOURISHED

I know every archetype player is complaining about their archetype being crap but I guess we have to voice our discontent some way. As a fellow big sword pure str build enjoyer I’m not having as good of a time as I hoped for. I feel like there’s just not enough cool two-handed swords to pick. Literally every two-handed weapon I find requires hybrid stats or pure faith. By the time of writing this I have completed the Weeping Sisters quest and still am running around with a claymore I bought at level 5 or smth. I need more big bastards :sob:

Additionaly two-handed combat needs some adjustments because it sometimes feels like a turn-based game. Right now almost every fight looks the same: I attack, the enemy runs away or doesn’t care and then I dodge or get punished. I wonder if it would be better if the dmg got nerfed and the attack recovery buffed instead. All of this considered the combat is still rewarding and difficulty isn’t an issue here at least in my perspective.

BIG IMMERSION REQUEST

I would REALY REALY LOVE if there was an option to disable questmarkers and instead rely on the journal to figure out quests. I’m probably in a minority (wich is sad to me ) but I strongly believe questmarkers ruin a lot of the adventure. When I talked to Sora and activated her quest without any arbitrary prompt I immediately got excited and felt rewarded for being curious. I love that feeling and really wish there was more of it :folded_hands:

Try to use more attack runes.

That really sounds like a skill issue …

  1. Parry - do dmg while enemy is staggered
  2. Jump attacks - boring but effective
  3. wear heavy armor and do a shoulder charge to knock them down
  4. Use Ice buff - enemies freeze after 2-4 hits which gives you a long dmg window

So it is not that hard to parry - dmg - shoulder charge - dmg. Or lead with should charge.
The charge attack also staggers almost anything.

That’s not addressing my point. I’m not struggling, dare I say I’m doing pretty good rn, two-shoting regular enemies with charged attacks and rune attacks, also using the parry. What I have issue with is the extreme slownes of claymore (haven’t tried other two-handed weapons for the reasons stated before) witch makes fighting with it feel frustrating. Especially when tackling bosses. When I fought sewer Darak I litrally couldn’t fit more than one attack even after parrying him. One attack is all I got the time for, because the recovery animation lasts three centuries. That feels ass.

I made a point about it on my post too,
I totally agree the knockdowns are too punishing, you’re basically dead. I think that’s not necessarily a bad thing if the game had like a very telegraphed attack and you must dodge once in a blue moon.
However the amount of moves that knock you down are thrown at you constantly and at speeds that are not super generous to the player.
I made a suggestion to fix this issue, but yeah I think that knockdowns need to be tuned down.

read about it here(Feedback & Suggestions Post-Breach Update – Combat, Builds, Gear, and Enchantments)

There are much faster weapons. All with advantages and disadvantages.

Except the curved sword, that has an attack lunge double slash, almost no weakness and outdamages corpse-smeared blade. It was broken pre-patch.

Alternatively, buy teleport and literally all your weapon issues are solved, but you only get like 1 of those runes.

Sure Curve sword is good, but its windup animation takes 3 eternities. I rather it have a bit better startup and cost more stamina or something cuz that windup is nasty.

Mage builds get constantly pinballed and rag dolled because staff attack animations are slow like a snail, with mediocre damage and long wind up.

What’s more, the Everfrost staff actually has no charged attack, and its attack sequence actually makes you move backwards as you do the combo sequence, often putting you out of range from enemies when you free or stagger them.

It feels like this patch everyone’s just gonna run sword and melee builds with mesh armor or leather.

Mage builds feel absolutely dreadful because the staff has no cleave outside a very expensive 100 focus cost spell that has a fairly tiny radius.

The sluggishness and animation lock in this game is making me really dread the combat when it comes to multi-enemy encounters, and even some single target ones like the pickaxe nith.
