Kill or Be Killed Risen Bounty in Iona's Cavern and the Cliff of Too Far-itude

Good day!

I have gotten a bounty today on my (strength melee) main entitled Kill or Be Killed. It asked me to show how big my gonads are by clearing out Iona’s Cavern of its inhabitants, who when entering the cavern are listed as The Risen.

I did my thing and went through killing every available mob, but was left at 11/12 with a single witch mob (aren’t these technically part of the Prisoner faction?) on the cliff at top right. Image below:

(in the image I was trying to not have to dodge fireballs so it’s the shadowy figure behind the zone info at top right)

I tried a bunch of ways to Mario over there and lost a few lives doing so.

There are no strength bows. This is better feedback for another thread, but that alone feels like a point of feedback. I am doing the melee class fantasy thing and the game won’t drop for me a bow with a stat requirement of 10 dex in content of this level.

So I did what any reasonable person would do: roll a fresh alt on a fresh realm and go digging for Tier 1 ranged gear.

Here is me finishing the quest the only way I knew how:

The feedback is that this feels bad. To make the game ask for a full clear and then give a mob that cannot be engaged in melee is a bummer. In my initial googling I found that this was reported in 2024 at some point, and there was a suggestion that this cliff was accessible. I could not find a way over there.

The suggestions are twofold:

  • More mobs. Making “kill twelve dudes” into 12/15 instead of 12/12 would work for me and probably most folks. But having done the gloam cave in the quarry, which also had exactly enough mobs for the quest, I think my other suggestion is better…
  • Add just a little branch on the right side of this invisible path that would let me hop over there and back. Maybe throw an herb and a mushroom over there to reward the hop even if it isn’t necessary for ranged characters.

The second suggestion is better. Build inclusivity is important, and a melee-only class fantasy for the player means that they can get things done without breaking the flavor of their build.

Thanks for reading! Loving the game. Excited to see little changes to things like this to really polish it up.
