It seems like every enemy has a ranged option

It seems like every enemy gets a ranged attack. Even enemies that are meant to melee, like knights or rogues are chucking infinite amounts of bottles. This is making combat with three or more enemies feel truly tedious, because attack opportunities are difficult to create.

Take this encounter for example. This is the encounter for the Risen Raid daily.

One of the enemies in this a dedicated range enemies: the firebomb thrower on the left. However the other 3 will also throw their Pinot nior at a moments notice. This is making it very awkward to play neutral.

  • You can’t bait an attack from 4 enemies at the same time to create a punish opportunity.
  • You can’t maneuver to separate them because they throw bottles cover each other from afar.
  • You can’t create staggers because you can generate focus.

And thus the triangle of neutral is closed.

My humble suggestion: Who carries more than 1 bottle of wine on them at a time anyway? I suggest these enemies are only able to throw 1 bottle per combat encounter

edit to specify my thoughts

These behaviours are here to balance the game for ranged weapons. One single throw would nerf too much the enemies when facing players with ranged weapons. I agree that it’s a bit difficult to manage when there are several enemies in some cases, especially when one or two of them throw a lot of bombs to the player on top of the ones who do it more rarely. But the counter is to have enough damage - single and for here AOE - to kill them quickly. Packing them together by moving around is fun. Overall I think it’s fairly balanced as it is.

I love this. It shouldn’t be changed, just because you are OP in every other game, being range vs melee AI opponents.

This balances it very well, and keep you on your toes, even far away.

Just for additional insite: my perspective come from playing exclusively melee; I certainly don’t care for being OP

I think that the enemies firing projectiles is fine. That being said I think they are quite the bunch of sharpshooters. Lords of the Fallen suffered similar problems with it’s sharpshooters. The projectiles moved so fast you got hit if you weren’t zero ’ed in on that one enemy and you’d fall to your death. Recommend they slow down projectiles so you can at least move and not get burned by multiple bombs.

I am just joking, thinking of Path of Exile
