I recently picked up NRftW with my friends not that long ago and have a lot of positive feelings and hopes for the game as it nears its full release. However, I did notice one thing that caught my eye that I figured might make for an interesting discussion point;
Indestructible Items can be Destroyed.
Let me give some context…
The Indestructible Facet, as many players know, removes the Durability modifier from a weapon (and effectively lowers its Durability by -90% for Enchantments that scale via Durability on these items). However, when you extract an enchantment from an Indestructible item, it essentially poses the question “Do you want to Destroy this item, to acquire this Enchantment?”
And this gets to the heart of what I think would be an interesting little mechanic / change to test in the game. If an item is Indestructible, allow the player to remove every enchantment off of the gear without the item being destroyed.
- Indestructible items could then act like miniature Enchantment storages (and, in a way, are themed since Helm-only enchantments can only be stored on helms).
- Would reduce inventory clutter to some degree. (4 into 1, essentially as far as base / personal inventory is concerned)
- Would be a neat, consistent interaction in the game since ‘Discarding / Selling’ are the terms used for other mechanics in the game but ‘Destroying’ is specifically tied to the Indestructible Facet and Enchantment extraction.
What do you think? Leave me some feedback down below!
