I assume the new limited food consumption to restore health was created so the player would not carelessly fight taking damage, and then simply find gaps to eat and heal all the health back again, making so as he had infinity life as long as he has enough food consumables. That is a detriment to combat, because the player does not really need to learn how to fight the enemies without getting hit.
I imagine that Moon Studios envisioned a combat where the player gets to make some mistakes but not too much mistakes. There is also healing runes, that give an alternate healing source, but that requires the player to land a few hits to earn focus.
My question is, is slow healing over time acceptable in Moon Studios vision? One idea would be to make every food consumable heal over time and not instant.
The heal damage over time affixes are acceptable? Aren’t they creating the same problem of infinite life? (obs: have not tried any healing combos, to see it there is any fast passive heal possibilities in the latest breach update)
I think the developer’s intention is to make the system more similar to potions (like in elder ring and other games) I like the system better than the previous one but there are still things I would like to change.

As far as healing in general lifesteal is unbalanced and I talk about it here: Lifesteal it’s a balancing nightmare
there is a legendary ring for this, find it and use it to your heart’s content.
You can also collect a lot of HP regen.
The best thing so far is HP after a kill, it allows you to farm without being distracted, but it makes you think on bosses.
For ichor you can make +5 to the food limit, and 10 will be more than enough for you
Unfortunately, I do not see any masterplan behind healing.
All I can say is that Lifelsteal or at least “health on X” are mandatory in the current patch.
Enemies now have more moves and also somehow every mob has a potent range attack. Furthermore you will find enemie groups consisting of more than 2 units very frequently. In the end you will get hit almost every encounter - this withers you down.
On bosse you can easely burn full stacks of food while you try to kill one.
I don’t think it’s too hard to play the game without any healing effects (except food) but playing this way it’s easy to run out of food, although just having the healing rune is enough to make feasible to avoid running out of food without much farming.
its quite simple, the devs dont want players to just trivialize everything.
unfortunately this is countered with life leech. life leech needs to be nerfed/reworked so that it happens over time.
