To be honest I don’t get people still thinking the game is too hard.
The whole gamer base can’t consist of only game journalists…
I guess I have to forbid myself meals and are only allowed to eat ingredients + heal rune

as soon as you git gud the game is not hard at all but unfortunetely since current gaming industry made ppl get used to cheesy and brain-dead gameplay mechs which you only do some clicks around and trigger animations ppl always will cry.. I remember that I learned the whole game right after I tried to kill “within our wall” elite mini boss at first playthrough for like +4 hrs of tries and just stopped to sleep and try again next day and it felt amazing instead of overwhelm or upset cuz I also knew that I could choose to gear up better and try it later but the option that it can be killed with white items as well and it is literally up to the player was so charming and the feeling of victory after kill it with white items was also priceless that 2 days felt like a whole complete tutorial for me and since then I’m rocking (unless I’m not sleepy or drunk) kekw
not sure where you are getting the
but difficulty is and will always be subjective… and by comparison, indeed this game is not that difficult… but also, need it be strictly difficult a game?
and I think you did hit the crucial point there
making a very strict and unforgiving game will gatekeep from the average gamer (irregardless of what people’s opinions are, this is simple math) and is just easier and more welcoming to make it difficult enough to be challenging to the average gamer, while still making it possible for the ‘above average’ one to tweak their experience and get more challenge if that’s what they crave for…
can’t really see where you are going w/ this:
there will always be better games than others, for every type of taste… if the industry is growing on a certain direction it likely means there is demand (and thus money) in that particular niche…
but you are very right indeed:
・inexperienced players who can’t even get past tutorials
・lazy players who can’t bother to try and understand mechanics
・low skill players who feel entitled to get the same rewards as high skill ones
・hardcore players who feel everything need to be a sweat fest and the challenge of a life time, even if no singular person on earth gives 2 focks about they being “gud” (or sucking, for that matter)
all of those might have good reasons, no doubt, but the most likely reason: as long as any particular game doesn’t match their expectations, virtually everyone cries… LOL
Similar experience with Within Our Walls quest.
First time I play NRFTW (before Breach), I choose archer (stam arrow) and cheesy my way until the end of campaign (didn’t touch Crucible).
Later when they announce incoming big update, I play again and challenge myself with big chunky iron. Which force me to familiarize myself with enemy moveset and parry mechanic, by using Within Our Walls quest to practice at low level without food (take me several hours too).
Then when they release the Breach, I can focus to savour the art and exploring
I’m a boomer, not from generation Z, where everything has to be served on a plate. Because young people cry when they see any difficulties in the game. Introduce difficulty levels and there won’t be a problem. Everyone will choose.
