I have gain barrier on multiple pieces - can be gained via kill, parry, damage dodge, and consuming food. Each one fills up the blue barrier bar, but only so much. So for instance, if I eat food twice, the barrier does not grow more than the initial barrier. But if I eat, then parry someone, it does. So the maximum barrier I can create is by gaining a barrier from each source. My question is how does that relate to damage to the barrier? How do I know which source is being consumed? For instance, if I parry, then eat, and then take damage, shrinking my barrier, which of those sources is being consumed first? Meaning, if I parry or eat, which one will give me the most barrier back? Is it based on the order the barriers were gained - i.e. last barrier gained is the first to be consumed? Or do all barriers split up the damage equally? For the former, I would need to keep track of what my last barrier source was and try to regain it. What I want to avoid is eating food to increase my barrier when it hasn’t been consumed yet, meaning I would gain nothing.
Also wondering if there is a cap to the barrier? With the right gems and barrier gain enchant on chest, I can fully fill the barrier bar, and can see that this doesn’t represent the max because I will take damage and the bar will not shrink, meaning I have a bigger barrier than what is represented by a full bar.
lucky you. I have 4 barrier items. None of them works
Would need more details on which barrier items you are using. I haven’t had any issues with barriers. The one thing I can think of is the out of combat barrier gem. This one can be strange because you won’t get the full barrier if you still have a partial one. The example I have in mind is that if you have a sliver of barrier left. You will barely be able to see it, and it will seem as if the barrier outside of combat is not being applied. You have to consume the rest of the barrier first before you will get a full new one. It would be much more useful if it reapplied the barrier instead of waiting for it to be missing.
Another thing to note is that this is still a thing: Gem Gain 10% Barrier out of Combat doesn't work
But all the other barrier sources have worked fine for me.
