i try to run this rune and i didn’t gain any barrier out of combat

From what I’ve seen from my little testing with the “gain barrier when out of combat” gem on my armor and a “enchantment power boost if have barrier” gem on a weapon of mine, I am unsure if the barrier gained from out of combat remains when players enter combat, which may be unintended and appears to render the gem effect on armor useless (unless major ranged combat?).
I think I saw the “blue bar” under the health bar (which I think is an indicator if you have “barrier”) disappear once I got close to enemies.
This was observed with the test dummies in Sacrament. I walked far away and the blue bar appeared. I then got close and it disappeared.

Hello!
I have barrier out of combat on my pants and the barrier disappears right away as I get it. Although I still have that another bar where you can see shield so I tested it if perhaps the barrier is hidden but still took full damage to health.

I get barrier for a single tick and then it is gone

Also swapping weapons with barrier on kill doesn’t keep the barrier gained.
