How are we feeling about the game

consider this a sort of “vent topic”; free discussion about excitement, worries, hopes, etc. please do keep in mind this one one of the “earliest” early accesses in game history. its at an incredibly crude state, and will probably change a lot in the coming year of early access; still, i wanted to put this out to let people get together and share their view of the game currently, especially because we are undergoing a very odd state.
currently we got six hotfixes that greatly improved how things are, but personally i feel that there is a lot to do, so much so that im not sure a year of early acess is enough to get everything into shape. consider this; this is just act one, and look how much work is necessary. still, the game has an insanely solid foundation, with GOTY potential; but i do find some choices by the devs very questionable:
-real life time to build constructions is… nonsense and very dated as an idea; this isnt even a live service game or a cashgrab like some older arpgs (think Drakensang), so i really dont understand why thats even a thing to begin with.
-resource gathering needs some work. in its current state resource gathering feels like a way to drag playtime. it does help break the pace from constant fighting, yes (assuming that breaking the pace is even a necessity), but with inventory limits (another choice i find questionable at least in its current state) and the variety of items you can get it feels odd to have to get so much and so various.
-inventory limits: first of all, crazy choice to make inventory limits visible, instead of not showing the locked inventory slots in the UI and “giving the extra slots” when you get an upgrade for them; second of all, having to choose which inventory you want to upgrade is misguiding and unintuitive. you dont know what slots you will need until you need them; personally i think the simple solution is to upgrade all slots, or do a single inventory category and upgrade that. also, i think equipment slots and inventory slots should be a separate upgrade type.
-any house storage should be infinite OR hold a large stack of each item type at least
-real life time for obtaining materials from fabricators is another thing i find horrid, for the same reason as the construction one.
-the UI is awful but that doesnt worry me too much, it will probably be improved by the end of the EA period.
-performance has been improved, but its still worrying. ive already made a topic on performance though so i wont discuss this further.
