I fished this item and had a full bag, so I ran off and did a bunch of other things… came back later and happened to notice the anomaly surrounding it. I don’t honestly know if it was there the whole time, or it happened later. Not the type of thing that necessarily needs to be recreated, nor would I know how. I’m sure it will disappear if I log out of the game. But something created it, and I’m sure one of our lovely devs will have a better idea of what that might have been.

[Update] I tried to strikethrough part of my comment, and can’t find the formatting for it. But anyway… I stand corrected on my assumption that it would disappear if I logged out. I quit to menu and went back into the same realm, and it was still there, with the same anomaly.

Successfully replicated just now, in Sacrament. Undetermined if it is because that part of my bag is full. Will have to clear space (and I don’t have anything I want to get rid of). But I will update if I come across anything else… Will also try to test if it happens with something other than fishing (for me).
[Edit] It belatedly occurred to me that there’s no way to test if it happened with an empty slot in my bag, because of autolooting… ah well :]
The first one that I left behind yesterday is still where I left it. Is it normal that it didn’t despawn?
The anomaly does not occur when finding loot by smashing things. And it happened to be a fish, curiously enough.
Would love to know what other people were doing when they also encountered this.
