Get rid of gear durability

Weapon durability isn’t blatantly unfair or glaring unreasonable it’s a simple mechanic that they’ve worked into the fabric of the game. My experience with it hasn’t been frustrating at all. Yes you will die in souls games, but your not necessarily SUPPOSED to die. The goal is to git gud enough so the death penalties are miniscule to you.

I think a solution to this could be that broken items are still allowed to be used, but with reduced effectiveness.
To go along with this, especially at the start of the game, Repair Powder drops should be much more frequent.
The system itself is totally fine.

I agree. Having gear durability feels outdated and adds no fun to the game at all. Just remove it.

It’s not fun losing durability in “No Rest for the Wicked” because the game isn’t like Diablo where enemies respawn and has many loots, and it also doesn’t like souls-like either, I would prefer losing currency, experience drops, or both instead of being affected from using the weapon type I prefer.

That would be a lot better

I agree, I am sort of locked at a point because I can’t afford to repair and I wasn’t able to find other equipment. I also don’t find a lot of money. If I was able to go back and farm the money to afford the equipment or something.

Maybe even be able to repair individual items. Starting with my weapon since I need that to fight then I could move forward and try to earn the rest for the other equipment.

As of right now I didn’t find other equipment and I can’t afford to repair my broken equipment. I am barefisting.

I think the best way forward would be having it as a setting you can choose to play with, or a mode that you can play on. Some people seem to really like it and others seem to find it as an annoying mechanic to deal with.

Best of both worlds, as everyone gets to enjoy the game the way they want to.

I don’t think this is the best, it is just a lazy solution, the game need to has some death penalty, so will feel more rewarding when overcome the challenge. if the durability has issue, they need to fix it

It’s not good at all, bro. You cannot maximize your character’s stats as you intend to due to weapon durability. Players die a lot in this game, so weapon durability also decreases quickly. This ends up not only forcing players to use other types of weapons but also forcing them to level up all other stats to overcome other weapon requirements. It needs to have a death penalty, but this is clearly not working.

I played game today all day at the start I though it would be better if you could choose what u wanna repair but honestly I really doesn’t matter because if you have that mentality to gather a lot of resources and not use them than… but game gives you good amount of everything and its balanced in a way that you should use resources for upgrades right away no need to wait until “the best weapon” just use it dude.

I don’t see how that matters. If you want to enjoy the game then a game mode catered to you works perfectly. Whereas I myself personally don’t enjoy the stress of weapons breaking and it partially ruins the fun I’d otherwise have in the game. It’s just making the game a little more accessible to people who hate durability mechanics while still allowing those who like it to use it. It’s a Win/Win for both sides.

its not really a soft punishment. i had ALL my gear broken and no way to fix it had to cheese to win fights to get to it thats dumb. Also for souls like games you die a lot on bosses. Game mechanics that make you then have to stop fighting the boss and run off the fix your gear then run back is just annoying.

LOL, no you dont. You only loose durability when dying.

this is not a soft punishment at all.

i just started playing this game iv already broken my weapon. with no way to fix it. and have other gear about to break as well. theres a reason a majority of games dont use this system anymore. even diablo like games. it just kills the fun of the game.

early game this system is extremly bad. since in the first map your learning the game things such as you die if you run out of stam while swimming learning to parry dodge ect.

imo this system needs to be removed or reworked. id prefer to see this removed. and find some other death punishment as you see in other souls like games.

the system imo doesnt work well if Moon wants players to replay the game with a different build.

i agree this system is trash. its very bad for early game. it seem i can repair items with repair powder. asfaik you dont get the blacksmith till later. idk i just started playing havent even beaten the first boss yet just been exploring the first map

Durability will slowly decrease through combat, even when you don’t die.

It seems like this is a contradiction. If you were truly in this scenario, and your sword broke but you had a different weapon in your bag, would you not switch over to it? This directly contradicts your point because it truly does force you into experimentation. So I’m not sure what you’re arguing. If you are holding the handle of an axe and are scared to move forward, would you look for a new weapon?

I had the same problem. I started over and did much better the second time around but sad to have to abandon my first guy.

EDIT: Followed advice in this thread and created another realm for my first char and he is good to go again. Interesting dynamic.

There is a free blacksmith very early on. You can try multiple weapons before you reach that point as well.

The durability is indeed a bit frustrating as it stands. I’m not against having a durability system, but I would agree it can discourage exploration somewhat as currently implemented. It might just be a matter of tweaking how quickly items degrade and/or how much they cost to fix.
