General feedback as pure co-op

Just some general feedback. Still playing it regularly with one friend, and it’s been an adjustment. Generally enjoying it though!

Main gripes:

The camera, as probably known, is just too finicky. It gets in the way almost as much as it gives a great viewpoint. Once you’re dealing with caves and enclosed rooms, so much can go wrong. I believe it puts too much emphasis on enemies and co-op teammates, and it feels like I have little control over the actual camera when in combat (at least in co-op), especially when a teammate is on the screen.

Boss fights are also a huge problem (camera-wise), where the camera tries to both follow the player, keep teammates onscreen, and follow the boss. But the camera is like a boss in itself in its current state, sitting at far too steep of angles, or, in the Crucible boss’ case at least, sometimes focusing too much on the boss and hiding the player character.

I know a third person camera is on the way, and that’ll be neat, but I’d like to see options to tweak the camera behavior if nothing else. A toggle to change emphasis from enemies and teammates back to the player character, as it feels like the camera is getting more and more irksome the more that I play.

Deadly edges are so common as well, that it’s too easy to accidentally step off while attacking (casting and shooting a bow at least), especially in the midst of an intense fight, or even out of combat. I personally would like there to be more hesitation for the player character, akin to teetering at the edge or outright stopping, even if only an option. Most of our deaths have been to simply launching off cliffs by complete accident.

More info and feedback on items would be nice (and I’m sure is coming). Things like:

Warnings for selling gemmed/infused gear (I don’t believe this is in, anyway, maybe I’m wrong)

Seeing the stats/explanation of runes outside of the rune interface on the vendor

Random rolling? On Mouse + KB, I occasionally, randomly roll while charging staff spells with right click. I have movement toward cursor turned off and everything, but sometimes it rolls instead of charging. Maybe a lack of stamina, but it feels random and out of place at least.

Otherwise, we’ve played entirely as a duo, and it’s been mostly pleasant. At first, I was concerned about friendly fire, but much less so now. Although the camera does contribute sometimes to FF, which is getting grating (obscuring teammates or viewing at extreme and weird angles). I would say the camera, and launching off cliffs/ledges to our death are the two biggest gripes by far, that we’ve had. And performance, but it’s generally good enough.

Enjoying it otherwise! The game is gorgeous and I would absolutely watch a movie in this art style. Great job! It’s easy to see the passion poured into the game as well. I wish nothing but the best of luck with the eventual 1.0 release.
