as you can see in the image, game is not using my computer fully. Is this a known issue, is there a way to fix this?
Game is in 1080p and quality setting is set to performance and I’m using fsr balanced mode for rendering
I’m using a laptop with following specs ;
GTX 1650 Ti 4GB vram
i5 10300h
8+8 3200mhz ram
well from a standpoint of someone who used to work in high performance computing (those room filling data center solutions, optimized for maximized performance) i can tell you, that no matter what application you run, but you never want to fully use your hardware you rather select your hardware based on the requirements and then add some more.
those fancy percentages don’t really tell you anything. since the game just got performance optimization fixes, i assume it will get better, the more they optimize it, but it could also be partly because the hardware is not optimal. I can just say from experience that is close to impossible to cater the needs of every possible PC setup out there.
I can tell you tho, having 4x4 RAM is better than having 2x8, just because you use your all your memory lanes. but thats just the hardware point of view. no idea how the software utilizes it. might be an issue, might not.
and also, 4GB Vram or your GPU seems a bit under dimensioned for gaming nowadays.
Which is a good thing. At least in the supplied screenshot, the more resources something uses, the worse your computer performance will be. That’s why people complain all the time about things that use up all resources, forcing them to buy a better computer.
The only value there that you want to see higher is FPS. But even with that, the higher your frame rate, the more of a performance hit you’ll take—so that one’s a trade-off.
Unless your real question is: Given the resources of my computer, why is my FPS only 28 … ?
The only thing that isn’t shown in the screenshot where you would want to see more things taken up would be parallel processing, where system load is distributed across multiple CPUs or processor cores.
do you have v-sync turn on or fps limit in the settings? i play with 1070 ti (8y old) and i get solid 120fps with quality settings. i get similar results when i cap my fps, the gpu runs at 70% load and dosnt get higher than 60fps
Please note that the GPU is not the powerhouse for this game. The CPU is what is pushing these higher frames. I have a 3060Ti but paired with a 4770k so I barely get 60FPS stable due to my Old CPU. Even if I had a 4090 I wouldn’t improve much due to the bottleneck of the CPU. So when addressing performance we have to take into account CPU as well. Not to mention the game loves using memory to so 16GB will cap easily and drop performance as well. In my case I am safely using 32GB but my CPU is no doubt the cause of my low performance.
