I’ve been playing No Rest for the Wicked since the first early-access build and I still love the art, music, and overall mood. But after the branch update (and the first hotfix) the game feels heavier than ever, and even one-hour sessions leave me wiped out. Here’s what I’m running into:
What I’m experiencing
- Slow rhythm: Movement, swing animations, and stamina recovery all feel a notch slower than before. The whole flow is exhausting after a short playtime.
- Stat lock-in: Since the patch I’ve had to dump every level-up point into Carry and Stamina just to equip the gear I find. Everything else is still at its base value, so builds feel less flexible than they did in the first release.
- Weapon handling hiccups:
- Heavy weapons swing so slowly that I’m down to a “hit once, dodge away” loop.
- Fast weapons used to offset the game’s pace, but now my dash steps sometimes shoot off at odd angles even while locked on, and enemies rarely give me room to finish a combo. My hits seldom interrupt theirs, but theirs almost always interrupt mine.
- Unclear improvement from the hotfix: The first hotfix felt slightly better, though I’m not sure if that’s the patch or simply my higher character level.
My question
Is this slower, more deliberate tempo what you’re aiming for? If it is, no worries—I may just not be the right player for that style. If you’re still tuning, I’m happy to set the game aside for a while and jump back in when pacing and weapon feel get another pass.
Thanks for listening, and congrats on a gorgeous world—I really do want to spend more time in it.
