Feedback on Gear Progression, Aesthetics, Difficulty, and Performance

Dear Moon Studios Team,

First, thank you for creating such a visually stunning and immersive world in No Rest for the Wicked. I’ve been enjoying the game, but I’d like to share some feedback on a few aspects that could enhance the experience for players like me.

Gear Upgrading and Aesthetic Variety One of the biggest drawbacks for me is the inability to upgrade gear (weapons or armor) to a higher tier, such as from blue to purple. This limitation reduces build diversity and aesthetic options. For example, when I find a piece of gear with a design or animation I love, but it’s only blue-tier, my only options are to sell it or extract its rune. Even when enchanting non-blue or non-purple items, there’s no guarantee the result will be a higher tier. I’d love to see a system where players can upgrade their favorite gear to higher tiers, allowing us to keep the visuals and animations we enjoy while staying competitive. Additionally, implementing a transmog system would be fantastic, enabling players to apply the appearance of one piece of gear onto another while retaining the stats of the equipped item. As someone who values aesthetics, I want my character to look stylish and unique in cutscenes and gameplay, which adds to the game’s immersive atmosphere. The world of No Rest for the Wicked is breathtaking, and I’d like my character’s appearance to match that beauty. Constantly using the same weapon or armor throughout the game feels restrictive, and I hope others share this sentiment.

Game Difficulty I started playing with the Breach update, so I can’t comment on the game’s difficulty before this patch. However, I find the current difficulty level to be quite manageable. It doesn’t feel overly challenging, which might be worth reviewing if you’re aiming for a tougher experience.

Performance Issues I’m experiencing performance issues, including stutters and FPS drops, even on the lowest graphical settings. My PC isn’t top-of-the-line but is decently capable, so I was surprised by these problems. Optimizing performance would greatly improve the experience for players with mid-range systems.

I hope this feedback is helpful, and I’m excited to see how No Rest for the Wicked evolves. Keep up the amazing work!

Agreed with the ability to upgrade gear tiers from blue (magic) to purple (plagued). It would significantly increase gear options, as part of what’s kept me stuck in my current armor setup has been the absolute lack of quality plagued cloth gear drops. 60 hours into this update and it’s been all leather and mesh and plate.

I really hope transmog and unlocking appearances upon acquiring a piece of gear (saving its appearance to your wardrobe, which you could have a magic wardrobe in your house or the Cerim chamber at the Masonry) happen soon.

Transmog is incredibly important to RPG players. Having armor match the character fantasy you want is a large impact on player experience. Transmog should extend to weapons as well. At least for PvE.

Obviously, keep armor type limitations if you must (like cloth only transmogs to cloth, leather to leather, wand to wand, staff to staff, etc).

Great addition to the topic. The price for upgrading gear could be made high or some special reagent for this. I forgot to mention in the topic, but perhaps it would be nice to add a “training zone” so that players could test how their builds work, or test the effects and animations of runes on weapons, so that they would not have to go out into the open world for this. For example, just above the square in Sacramento there is a mannequin, make it invulnerable but susceptible to damage, so that players could accumulate focus and use runes on weapons to see and find out whether they like it or not.

The arena is meant to fulfill this function. They just haven’t had the chance to fully implement it yet in the game.
