Framerate dips wildly after use of a specific rune and weapon combination

When using large weapons with an ice based damage type and the throw based runes in this case Ice Throw the framerate dips wildly. I’m no tech guy but I feel like it has something to do with the particles used for ice? Either way it is only severe when done with ice based weaponry.

I don’t know if its relevant but here are my pc specs.

970 Evo SSD 2TB
EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card, 12G-P5-3967-KR
Amd Ryzen 9 5900x
64G of g skill f4-3600c16-16gtznc

Bump, as of hotfix 6 this issue still persists.

It’s improving but not cleared yet. Same thing was happening with my archer. Prior to hotfix (3 or 4 I think?) it would cause the game to go to single digit frames after I covered enemies in arrows. Which didn’t take long with spreadshot. It’s wayyy better now but yeah, hopefully it continues to improve.

In my experience it isn’t improving at all. The framerate will still sink down to about 40 like in the video and the performance remains degraded after. perhaps it is holding something about the animation in memory?

Ah that sucks. Sorry to hear that. We’re going to have different experiences with different hardware but I was definitely experiencing a slideshow in the crucible and now it’s pretty smooth. Hopefully they fix that for you too!

Bump, as of hotfix 7 this issue still persists but has a bit of improvement. Performance still plummets by more than half the framerate and performance still remains permanently degraded after a single use of the ability.
