- Food, cooking, and healing is a big hassle. This is the only way to get heals and all of the recipes require one ingredient in all of the recipes. They need to put in an estus flask type heal so you always have a heal every time you respawn.
- There is no free respec so you can’t even try out most of the weapons you get. Really? In the year 2026, why not make respec free so people can try out builds? This is really disappointing. There is respec but it’s locked behind another mode they force you to play.
- Repair system is big complaint, there is no reason for it to be there, it really feels like an afterthought. There is nothing interesting about it. This mechanic does not add anything to the game.
- Weapon stat requirements. You can’t use some weapons because your stat isn’t high enough. I can’t try out 80% of the weapons I pick up because the stat requirements are too high. Such an outdated concept.
- Resources. There needs to be a farm for herbs, vegetables, wood, iron, etc. It’s weird having to go RNG your way through the woods to find certain things.
- The compendium needs to show me where to get some of these resources, at least show them on the map. There are like 2 trees that look the same and there are 3 trees in the area. The herbs are a REQUIRED ingredient in ALL recipes, you can only get one from the ground and you are forced to walk around randomly to find these herbs. Mark them on the map or something.

- It is not the only way to heal. You start with the heal utility rune which uses focus and heals 50. Gathering resources with a tool refills your focus meter, so you can gather and heal up between fights if needed. There are also enchants to regain health on kill, parry, or dodged damage.
- It may be behind another mode, but unlocking respec is neither difficult nor time consuming. It can be unlocked half way through the crucible with 20 of the crucible currency. Respecing requires fallen embers though, which are not that common, but it only takes a few - 1-2 for slight changes, or 3-4 for a main stat change. Being more locked in to your spec makes choices during level up more meaningful, especially in coop where generally each player is focusing on a different spec.
- Your armor pieces only loses durability when you die. It’s definitely not an after thought, with enchants gaining more power the more durability you have. You can also find indestructible gear if you don’t want to ever worry about repairs. You can both find and craft repair powder, which for me was plentiful.
- You can use any weapon without meeting the requirements, it will just have reduced damage. My buddy is currently using a great axe without the str requirement and still doing fairly well. He likely is excited to level up so it’s no longer underpowered. It also incentivizes putting more points in your main stat as you level up since stat requirements go up the higher the item level.
- They have plans for farms. Where the stuff is located is not random. All the resources spawn in the same place.
- There are generally two zones per resource tier. For example, pine and copper are in the shallows, mariners keep, and Orban glades. Spruce and iron are in nameless pass and the black trench. Birch and silver are in lowland meadows and Marin woods. There is a pattern there. You can mark them on your map currently as you find them if you want.
100% agree on all of these things. It seems like a lot of things are added to make a hassle for the player and just get in the way.
Coming home, I don’t want my 1 hour play session to be a senseless farming and cooking sim, I already do that at work and to cook my meals at home.
