Try to attack the boss from behind for extra damage.
Check other posts in this forum for tips and tricks for beginners, because at this point if you spend your stat point wrong you may end up with a tught fight.
Puting point in hitpoints and stamina is highly recomanded no matter the build you should have a minimum of 16 in hp and stamina. And if you did spend your stat point wrong just start a new character and realm.
Do attacks from behind generally deal more damage? I thought only backstab will deal more damageā¦
HP and Stamina do help, but I donāt think this little extra will help the fight for someone not from Soul-like background if they approach the fight wrongly (habit from other genre)
Iām a diablo veteran. I have tried dark soul because I like the combat but I donāt like those harsh penalty on death so never finished any dark soul game.
You are right if you aproach the fight wrong your in for a tought fight. It took me 20 ore more try to kill the first boss and I could not even tuch the war room boss. But on my next run full fresh start I took both of them out on my first try.
Thatās why I recomand to check other topics there is one where both me and other have posted bigger list of tips for starting the game.
As for hp and stamina I think both help a lot at the begining, becuase me included as a bigener was trying to get a full combo on the boss and that let you without stamina to evad and hp of course let you take more hits. On top of that this are stats that almost every build will put some points, so you cant go wrong and break you character.
I rather give general tips than kick them to read posts after posts. They will find posts themselves already if they are keen on doing so. Especially in an early stage of a new game.
Full combo is what I view as ānoob trapā, as a full combo usually take longer than bossā recovery time, which leads to unable to react to their fight-back. They will learn when to hit a full combo the longer & deeper they play. But at this point, I tend to not encourage using full combo, just so they can die less.
To sum up how to beat the first boss, every other boss, and pretty much everything in the entire game (so far): PATIENCE
Thereās no enrage timers (that I know of) so the longer the fights go, the more you learn the attack patterns, when itās safe to engage, how long you can engage and how to avoid the enemies attacks. I have no doubt that most players could be the entire game (to this point) bare-handed if they were only patient enough (although thatās A LOT of patience).
