I have a question about Finley. You rescue the guy, but then you never see the guy again. Why is his appearence attached to real time, in one specific day of the week? This excludes a lot of people that can’t play in that time period. Can’t his appearence be attached to the in-game calendar? (Is there a purpuse for the calendar anyway?). Or maybe he could be always active, but wandering around the world, sitting by the fire in a random place of the map? My question was made because two reasons: 1-The player have no clue of what’s going on after you save him. 2-A lot of tutorials are teaching how to force spawn him by manipulatin your operacional system clock, which is not good at all, because it can ruin your save, and is not a practice a videogame should inspire.
you can find it every day from 8pm to midnight… then there are other ways that are not exactly “legal” to always see it, however useful it may be…
I don’t know if anyone else experiences this, but have you ever gotten into the game and said I gotta stop by Finley and buy some stuff, but it’s 8am. I go and do a thing, it becomes a bigger thing, next thing you know you miss Finley by a minute. Maybe this is too convenient to add in, since it makes sense to keep Fin confined to the night hours since he’s a fence, but I wish we could speed up the time of day like we could in other games. Farcry, Skyrim, and others allow you to do this. Sleep in a bed? Perfect! Get your bonuses and go see Fin at the same time!
There are weeks that I will be on NC (1630-2-3am). Just found out that his time are based on real time and unfortunately, I won’t be able to see him during that time on NC. Will there be a way to increase his visitation time. Can yall eventually extend his time from 8-mid night to maybe 8-4 am before new store reset.
No. I also wouldn’t recommend changing your system time, as this can cause some problems like him not showing up at all until it’s the date you changed it to.
I think it would be a good idea if it showed up at the end of the IN GAME day instead of the real one, and also do the same for same for updating the inventory of other vendors.
Yes, I find it strange that a game that has days in game only uses real days, then has mechanics that are linked to real hours and automatically exclude some players, who work or who are otherwise busy.
If I have two hours of free time each day of the week, I’m at an advantage over someone who has two days off a week. It doesn’t make much sense.
I do not play in the evening but I am up at 3am
I suggest the following (we already have to unlock him and his loot is fixed for day anyway):
no timer (low on going effort)
he appears where the key is instead (you have to put in work for reward - daily effort for reward)
he appears in random places after unlock … like special vendor machine in borderlands … promotes community communication … a “where is finley today” and “look what FInley got” channel on discord
I would love the last idea … maybe even have different loot in plague infested areas?
Agree with moving timers to in-game timers, not real-time. People are adults with responsibilities and different work arrangements, and they deserve to enjoy the game as much as any unmarried college boy who can play whenever.
Vendors in general feel pretty awful. They are outrageously expensive for how money starved the game is until you hit lv30 and farm for a long time, so you only start being able to stockpile and afford stuff only by the time you no longer need the items and resources.
They should have a base stock of all the essentials with a rotating optional stock that refreshes every 1-2 in-game hours. Preferably every hour.
Items should also sell for more. The economy in the game is extremely backloaded. It needs a smoother curve. Part of what would help is improving the bounty system and having chests give meaningful coin payouts on top, as chests also feel anemic at the moment.
That would pair up with Finley as his offerings and those of the Seneschal are also silly overpriced. 13 silver for a regular un-upgraded plagued item is dumb.
I believe they changed that or atleast for me he appears 24/7 (not constantly he comes and goes multiple times during the day and night)might be bugged..
I believe it would be better if the game had a billboard in the town square where you can leave notes for other players aswell as issue challenges, bounties and issue an appointment to trade with Finley?
I imagine vendor spawns/event triggers to cause hiccups in some games when its tied to specific time trigger/event, So i would rather have it on a controlled timer
If the spawn timer/trigger only repeat without clearing or destroying the data it generates its going to impact game performance to become slow and more bugs may appear at some point.
(I am not a game developer but i have created maps in warcraft long time ago and some other newer games with similar functions so i know the consequences of not clearing the timers data after the triggered action)
usually hes there 8pm to midnight still, idk if anything changed cause today i just checked it like 15min ago and its 5min to midnight where i live now and hes not there on no realm. maybe my game runs on another timezone suddenly, idk if thats possible or not.
but this is the first time hes not there for me during that time. i checked yesterday earlier so it can also be its from 7to11 now for me, cause timechange idk.
i thought it uses ur PC time which cannot be true if hes not there and for me its still only close to midnight.
