Context:
- I use KB&M for both Ori and NRFW.
- I have a midrange gaming laptop - 6900HX Mobile Ryzen CPU [~30W package under load], 3080 Ti Mobile [90-110W], this is only better than 48% of devices worldwide, was considered extreme high-end in 2022.
- The game runs well at ~60fps at 2K at High settings, which is enough for me.
- This feedback focuses on input, UI, art direction and combat.
Pros:
- The artstyle and world’s art direction is excellent, also during cutscenes.
- The story also seems very good.
- The game is fun to play overall, about as good as Ori.
Feedback / cons:
- The UI is kind of atrocious, since keybinds you assign on the mouse or keyboard are not displayed properly on the bottom-left item bar, even after restart, before restart, whilst changing, after changing… Also the UI generally looks a bit clunky and would be good to allow us to hide certain elements (like WoTW does), either dynamically or permanently. Since the world looks so good, why have us look at the UI?
- It would be good to consider adding a non-gore mode like Terraria (accessibility setting, turns off most blood spill from enemies only), since some Ori players may be sensitive individuals, and having so much ketchup erupt from all the enemies is no bueno generally for some lol. Some others also suggested regular-arm-length-mode for player, to me it does not matter I adore monkey-man but you know…
- Keybinds are atrocious. Let us keep multiple configs. Let us assign a key to tap, double tap, hold, long hold, release, press. Like in Helldivers 2, which probably has the best keybind system I have ever seen. Please!!! This game needs a better keybind menu than Ori as it is more complex. Also, let us assign keys to duplicate them and let us leave empty un-assigned keys if we so wish, if it breaks things we will re-add them after all.
- Finally, player sprinting seems a bit dumb. You can just sprint all the time on the ground and it has no downside as walking is slow. Generally, the player is too slow I think perhaps.
