I enjoy that No Rest for the Wicked has a long-term gear progression. I don’t want Exalts to become deterministic, either. I actually like that there’s an element of randomness, because it makes perfect gear feel special.
However, the current system VERY RNG can invalidate dozens of hours of crafting because the final 4 Exalts are completely random and irreversible. After obtaining the correct base, facet, upgrades, and enchantments, failing the last RNG step means rebuilding the entire weapon (or even an entire piece of equipment) from scratch.
I don’t have a specific solution in mind, and I’m sure the team could come up with something much better than I could. I would simply love to see a system that preserves the excitement and rarity of perfect gear while reducing the frustration of having an entire crafting journey decided by a few unlucky rolls at the very end.
I believe there’s room for a middle ground where players still have a meaningful endgame chase without feeling that dozens of hours of progress can be erased by irreversible bad luck. Finding that balance would make an already fantastic crafting system feel even more rewarding.
My sincere regards and respects,
