I noticed that in the intro there were friendly NPCs that assisted you in combat, like the sailors on the ship and the guards during Darak’s first encounter. But for the rest of the game it’s just enemy encounter after enemy encounter with no structural changes. Seems like a waste to program NPC behavior like that and then not use it. Plus, it would make the game feel more alive and dynamic if there were some friendly patrolling guards that occasionally spawned and could be found fighting enemies out in the wild.
Another thing that would add a lot to immersion was if factions were hostile to one another. Like it makes no sense when human and torn enemies ignore each other to wail on the player. A simple change in the enemy behavior flags would go a long way towards making the island feel more like a place inhabited by living creatures with their own goals and allegiances, and less like a series of arenas filled with mindless killing machines. Plus having 3 way battles is really cool.
