… because it’s a go-to, ultimate, absolute survivability solution.
i like it because it enables cloth. i don’t feel it’s OP because i still have no poise and can’t really tank. but it allows me to not fold like laundry in front of every crab.
on plate, it’s ridiculously too strong, because of innate plate extra durability. if i have plate+durability resist, you can’t kill me, unless i stack drain hp and AFK.
i suggest an armor-based diminishing returns curve for that resistance stat. the more armor you have - the less the extra durability resist stacks on. that way plate can still boost survivability with it - but not crazy, and cloth can use it to… get through the day.
I think barrier gain could be added to this as well. The more HP you have, the bigger the barrier. Even at 50% physical damage resistance, my barriers hardly go away. It is yet another way to become invincible.
Though I do wonder if these enchantments are the problem, or if the new enchantment power gems are the real culprit. Being able to gain nearly a 100% barrier off an apple is pretty insane.
i totally agree that at the current state of enemy HP vs player dmg scaling the multiplier gems are a total overkill. they easily bring you to a point of invalidating content.
have you ran builds that were low armor and only had barrier as a survival stat but without multiplier gems ?
Not exactly. I made a thorns build which was cloth with barrier gain, but it was using mottled pearls and had 900 HP. Was fun until I took it to multiplayer and realized reviving someone was % of health based oof.
I did recently do a gem only run and barriers were highly effective. You can’t really push resistances much leveling up, and my barriers hardly went away.
what weapon did you use for the gem only build ? was that light armor ?
i’m not even sure cloth is viable without either barrier or dura-resist . maybe that’s fine . but plate is viable without anything. and it can KO on demand
Started with claymore, then paddle. Wore mesh. Didn’t increase my health until post lv 15.
Durability currently doesn’t have a proper function and needs to be either rethought or removed. All it does is extend the range of certain benefits to the point where it causes the issues you mentioned.
Well… in actuality, the problem isn’t really durability, but that you don’t have OTHER build multipliers LIKE durability, (ontop of not being balanced). in actuality there should be more of them to make the build process more involved. But then they need to reduce the range further to not trivialize the combat.
