Damage Resistance has no cap and results in complete Damage Immunity

Since update there is no longer cap of 70% damage resistance from armour and rings, as well as all damage resistance sources being additive instead of multiplicative.

This combined with Damage Resistance based on durability enchant on plate armour (with facet and increased durability enchantment) leads to over 100% damage reduction, which basically makes our characters immune to damage. At all times.

Also DR enchant on shields is additive with block DR so it’s possible to achieve 100% damage blocked with Greatshields and few lucky exalts on enchantment.

It doesn’t help that it’s easier when taking into account Gems boosting enchantment power.

Example from Vil on discord, using single chest piece:

Please make DR multiplicative again. It doesn’t matter how much time I spend, I don’t want to be able to be immune to damage.

Escalating this! Thank you Vel.

I ran into the same issue, I wanted to make a full plate max defense/ele res gear.
But just the chest armor gives me 112% res all. Only damage is fall damage, and I think other damage heals me

Another Bug: having durable and durability increase enchant, will make durability behave strange. Repairing does not always repair to max, sometimes rejioning the game the item suddenly has 1 durability left, yet when taking a whisper or something it then suddenly shows 2 durability.

112% res all is insane with one item, I was planning the other 3 gear slots to be dense(+armor)+10% elemental res enchants.
Wonder how high resist would get then.

I don’t think just adding a max res 95% or something will fix this, as then you can still just make this chest piece, and have all damage on everything else.
I think the enchants/gems/facets etc need to be tweaked, but put in a 95% max for example anyway. Personally I don’t like all these enchant power gems at all, they seem way to powerful. And now so many gems have enchantment power that makes all gems very boring since all these do the same. Example I liked old ones like the shock buildup gem etc, atleast then they were still all unique and interesting.
The durability enchant/facet gives 100% durability each. Reducing both to 25 or 50% will still not fix this issue due to the new gems. And like I said I can still have 3 more armor pieces and a shield.

Oh and having a level 1 character craft items makes any type of item level 1, or have the requirements be 10 or 10/10. Not sure if that is intended

To be honest this resist thing and boring gems, really makes me not wanting to play the game anymore, untill its changed.

The new exalt is nice it will take like on average 200x to exalt an item 4x with the stats you want, to get the exact rolls you like. And it will take a while to find 10/10 resistance rings.
This is better over the old exalt where I could max out a character in just a few days.
But enchantment/gem wise the pre co-op update was better.

And why is plate armor just the best on everything, why not give lighter armor more elemental res than plate? I’m not sure anymore but was that not how it worked pre co-op?

I’m not sure about the radiant/essence embers its to easy to max out stats still, get 100% or 90% roll and 1 radiant is max. even at bottom roll only ~6 radiant embers wil max a stat. I’ have played diablo2 long time, there finding a unique with all 100% rolls can take years of gameplay to find, which might be the other extreme end :).

Quick look at Hotfix 5 result :
I thought res is capped at 95% seeing this but no, adding rings I see resist increase.
My single armor still gets all the way to 95%
(I’ve not checked yet if new items I find have lower dur enchant values, if that was changed to fix this, I will play tonight to see)

However someone else on discord is using conditional 100% low health gems and still hits 99% res all. So perhaps there is still something to nerf. Since I think the enchant power gems are just to powerfull on their own anyway

Conditional 100% gems:

So yeah picked up some items ingame noticed max enchant durability roll is now 75%
But I also overlooked my armor is now 112 not 125 it had before. So my existing armor was also lowered to 75%
So 95% res all still seems a bit OP for 1 chest armor.
Adding rings already boosted some res to 97%.
I’ve not crafted any of the other items completely yet.
But I think my dense+ele(or phy) res pants/gloves/helm might still get it near or to 100%.

But the problem remains the 100% at low health gem will still easilly reach +100% resist all.
As I mentioned before just nerfing durability will not solve it all.

Here is a quick test to show how easy its still to reach 100% with my chest armor and just using 3 rings with a total of 28% lightning resist:

When I craft the rest of my gear all dense facet +10% ele res / +6% phy rolls, I think I can surly hit 100% everywhere. And people using the 100% low health gems will hit 100% alot easier, since those gems do not say you can only have one. And the “you can only have one” gems does not even work according to people, and that you can still use them everywhere. (i have not tested this yet).
