CRUCIBLE ISN'T FUN, it's only combat, no exploration, no loot... why bother?

I also think respec should be moved outside of the crucible, but also at the same time you will be able to choose the echo that skips all levels until stage 5 and teleports you directly to the Limbus to “buy” the respec ability from Seneschal. So if you really dont want to play the crucible, or if it is still too hard, there is this option as well. I started the crucible only for the respecing and because I wanted to buy the whisper for the manor, but it was too hard for me. So this echo was very much appreciated and solved my issue with it. Since then, I now wonder how I could not reach the limbus in the first place, but working on your build and skill is the key I guess.

The issue with that is you still need to get the crucible currency from killing mobs in order to be able to purchase the respec statue. So if you are actually not able to deal with a few rooms because your attribute points are not distributed properly, then using the echo to reach Limnus is actually useless. On top of that, that echo is not a guaranteed find, it’s based on random chance. I have had countless runs where that echo never showed up.

They should design a separate quest, similar to potion seller, to access respecing instead of Crucible. The idea that it’s made that way to introduce players to Crucible is also wrong, there is already a quest that leads you there anyway.

Hm, true. I think i cleared some of the first 2-3 stages several times and then in a next run I got lucky with the echo I guess, and used the currency for the respec statue. I assumed this echo drops automatically after several failed tries to minimize the frustration.

Btw, nice builds you make on youtube. Thanks for that. Maybe you are becoming a youtuber after all

Hahah … Not with my video editing skills I’m not.

I just think it’s the most constructive way to give back to the community asides from bickering on the forum.

i dont think the echoes were particulary very interesting in general

at the beginning it can be exciting to see the highest damage you can get, but the novelty quickly wears off and you mostly have some shallow snowballing of damage boosts and generic survivability bonuses

Crucible is simply not well designed, and early access has nothing to do with it.
Let’s compare Wicked with another game that is also in EA right now, Path of Exile 2.
It also has a rogulite game mode, called Trial of the Sekhemas, and it’s so much more pleasant to run.
What makes it good?

  1. It’s divided into 4 sections with a boss (and rewards) at the end of every section. It’s not all or nothing.
  2. Enemies drop loot.
  3. Access to further sections opens up gradually as you progress through the game. Beating the first section feels like an achievement first time you do it, because this is as far as you can go at the moment.
  4. You get upgrades as you play it, which you can use to either make your runs easier or improve the loot. While you’re learning the ropes you use the first kind, then you switch to the second.
  5. You get limited amount of keys during your run. At the end of the section you can choose which chests to open. This way you can target rewards that you need at the moment.

All of this was present during the first early access release, and was improved during further patches. In comparison, it feels like very little effort went into the design of the Crucible.

Edit: Forgot one more: difficulty increases gradually during the run and so do rewards.

I’ve also suggested some changes to player attributes and I was curious what did you think or if you would suggest something else:
