Crucible fall of edges *needs* to be removed

Here’s the thing genuinely I’m asking this with 0 patronization what makes it a problem here and not in soulsbornes a genre which has been solidified for over 10 years now? Why should the devs take the complaints about falling in crucible more seriously and accomodate you guys vs fromsoft not accomodating it?

sorry, but i saw people in here giving suggestions on how to avoid the issues you describe. that is not being devils advocate, that is simply pointing out solutions from experience of other users.

and lets be real here: gravity is the hardest boss in sooooo many games. i can’t even count how many times i died to falling off in dark souls or dead cells. that is frustrating, but does not change the fact, that it can be avoided with more practice and map knowledge.

completely removing ledges is super boring imo. like playing on flat-earth. platforming, jumps and climbs are part of (good) level design, and yeah, falling off happens.

i honestly can’t understand how you guys in here attack each other and insult each other just for pointing out things and giving advice.

and i would like to remind everyone in here, that we should keep it respectful in here. stop insulting each other, please. i really do not want to delete posts because u go at each others throats. state your experience and opinion but please leave the insults out. thank you

In a 10hr sesh I think the only time I didn’t die from the boss at the end was from falling off a ledge and it was usually from attack animations. Still was only like 3-4 times and one time from a janky vine climb animation.

you can’t fall down from attacks in elden ring

this is a lie. stop. if you want i can do a video.
If a weapon’s moveset causes me to fall off a ledge - like a one-handed sword - suggesting ‘switch weapons’ isn’t a solution to the problem, it’s just a workaround. Telling a player who’s struggling to ‘git gud’ is both foolish and unhelpful.

have a nice day

What’s the point of this comment? Is it just bullying? Do you want to be the best?

You definitely can I have ER has ledge protection it does not prevent ALL attacks from making you fall off.

I don’t think anyone here denied weapon animations cause you to die, but this game isn’t an auto-battler YOU press the attack button you chose that weapon so you must adapt to it. It’s been a thing in Metroidvania, roguelikes, and now soulslikes for 20+ years. It punishes you for attacking at a bad time & place why is that such a big deal now of all times?

yes it does. when falling off would kill you, displacement from attacks will not make u fall. there is an invisible wall then.

if the drop is not deadly u fall of when attacking, but that does not matter in this discussion, does it.

Ohhh so the times I fell and died it was cause of low health + fall damage gotcha

regular attacks you won’t fall, some AOW won’t make you fall too, i would be ok if they at least would implement not falling while doing a regular attack.

Then I concede that fromsoft did this but ONLY for ER and no other game. And here’s the thing I do NOT like Elden Ring, I personally very much so hate the hand holding of that game

Your post is too nuanced and nice he’s just gonna insult you and leace it at that

I wouldn’t bother replying anymore he’s definitely just left fhe forums, anybody whose the type to just write 1-2 sentences to a nuanced topic is impossible to argue with

next time write gitgud it’s the same. have a nice day.

Ooooh oooh ooooh leonardo pointing meme

“Have a good day” mfers when everyone doesn’t agree with them

it’s you who made the argument of souls like not having some kind of fall protection o.O

anyway, this game is not like those, the attacks can make you move across the entire screen, also, when you die the run is over, it’s not a run back like the other games. this coupled with some arenas that are really narrow makes for a bad time.

i personally don’t like game comparisons as an argument, in my case at least, the way that falling is “tuned” in the crucible right now is frustrating. you have to dial back a lot of the speed just so you won’t fall.

falling is frustrating in some places in the game, but is especially bad in the crucible

Yeah and like I said I concede, ER did have fall off protection but their entire catalogue didn’t until ER(AFAIK) and people played those just fine. DS3 is still considered for several fans the best fromsoft game as is DS1, etc. And yeah true comparing games doesn’t always make sense.

Maybe, maybe Crucible fall off can be tuned like I said revives should be allowed or maybe it caps off your max health for that particular room but there are truly very very few rooms(2-3) that have anywhere near the egregious ledges everyone is complaining about. Also as mentioned the player pushes the attack button no one else, the player doom rolls, the player chooses the weapon with that moveset. Unlike soulsborne you get 3 weapon slots that do not add up weight, meaning if you do not build for multiple scenarios that is entirely on YOU.

And my other issue is when is it a skill issue and when is it not? Rallianto complained a lot across multiple posts and then literally a day later they go “oh yeah Crucible ain’t so bad” WTF dude are you serious. Some players are extremely, extremely reactionary constantly calling a mechanic or enemy or weapon bad, unfair, etc until they beat it and then suddenly it’s fine. Magliarano won’t even discuss it either because he’s a whiner incapable of discussion, none of these are exactly good examplars for why there should be a ledge protection mechanic to me.

I use moonshaft as my main and it’s VERY lungey. I use twirl dash as my main rune, which also propels me forward. I spent lots of time falling off ledges before i made a some playstyle changes:

  1. Got a bow for my offhand - this is very helpful and allows me to take out enemies when there are lots of deadly falls.
1a. Learned not to use cone shot if there was a ledge behind me!
  2. Pay attention in melee if I am near a ledge so I don’t die from an extra attack, target change or enemy teleport.
  3. Get extra careful against EK if I have him backed up against the ledge.

In the non-combat ledge death category I’ve also gotten used to slowly walking up to climbing walls when I want to go down.

I suppose instead of making these changes to how I played the game I should have just come here and complained in hopes the devs would hear my cries, but I didn’t want to wait that long and it’s not my style.
