Credits where credit's due

So far, i’ve seen a lot of feedback referring to things people would like to see changed, added or removed from the game but barely anything about what the game does right.

I think it is just as important to point out what the dev nailed in their creative process not only for morale but also as reference for what the player base like or see as important to their experience.
This might helps direct them when choosing what to add among our many suggestions because, unfortunately, they cannot do/add EVERYTHING.

Me first.
Combat is crisp!
The game is very responsive, animation are smooth. This may seems simple enough but it makes so i don’t feel robbed of a victory when i get killed. I can clearly see what my mistakes were and what i need to pay attention to. I also love that it diverge form the generic ARPG and have combat encounter that are all meaningful instead of just running around watching stuff dies. (May be good to point out that, sometimes, the game seems to queue a lot of controller input but that’s just me panic mashing)
Also love that every weapon seems to have their own moveset and not only a singular moveset associated with their weapon type.

Map design is amazing.
I loved losing myself in the map the first time around trying to find side passage and hidden shortcuts. Having lots of optional areas is absolutely a must. Having the previous areas of the game evolve along with the story, keeping them relevant is also a great idea. It feels as the map of the game is truly expanding rather than just moving along. (I sure would like to have more to do in those previous areas than hunting generic mobs and resources, but that’s for another topic.)

Story and Lore
Love it. Plain and simple. The voice acting is on point. The lore is slowly growing to be rich without being an info dump. The character, so far, are well written with distincts personalities and traits. The music is also doing a LOT for the ambiance of the game.

This is what i got on the top of my mind.
Keep it up folks at Moon studio. I’m along for the ride and can’t wait to see more.

The sewers and nameless pass locations have me totally convinced Moon Studio truly know how to make Souls-Like locations with worthy puzzles, shortcuts and secrets.

I hope the trend continues with new locations, and maybe they’ll add more stuff to existing locations too!

This. The map is so solid.

I was writing up a reply to folks complaining about not being able to Fast Travel to any Whisper point, and I decided to time how long it takes to get from one side of the map to the other.

I think it took just under 6 minutes, across various paths, all feel organic. The way the map just builds upon itself with shortcuts is the best I’ve seen in any souls-like.

Can’t wait for more areas to explore

The map design clearly draws heavily from the geniuses who made the Ori maps. Take ori maps and make them 2.5D instead of just 2D, and you get these ones.

Ori-like! I played Ori and the map also gradually radiates outward (at least at the beginning), like this one.
