Been having a great time with the game and was switching between a scythe and staff depending on situation, but now with a 3rd slot it feels like the combat “flow” is interrupted because I have to cycle through that extra empty slot.

I unlocked my 3rd main weapon slot and I keep it empty, now I cant fast swap between my 2 weapons, make it possible to lock the last weapon slot mabey?
I’m trying to think of what situations a player may want to swap to an empty slot.
The only one I have though of is with quivers. The AoE is so big I would like to occasionally switch to no quiver when playing coop.
But that said, between the freedom of switching to an empty slot vs the convenience of only cycling between equipped weapons….. I think I would side with the convenience. Trying to quickly switch weapons and instead just unarmed punching an enemy has to feel bad lol.
It’s even worse when you try to switch to a different weapon to use a particular Rune attack and then… You just Rune Punch the mob. Oops.
It’s annoying to cycle through a mainhand empty slot if you are using only 2 weapons and have unlocked the third slot with plague ichor.
Sugestion is to skip empty slots when cycling or to allow disabling slots empty or not
I agree with you, but with all the discourse around this, I feel like the Devs are purposely ignoring and trying to troll the players. You’re not the first person to mention this, there’s a whole thread that is combined of others stating this exact point.
Feels insulting since we all paid for an early access title and now they are trying to insult the player base without even a single response to this common feedback. It’s like ‘You paid for our game, now deal with it lol XD.’ from the team.
its rlly so annoying that i have stopped playing it and decided to keep it that way until they make a change to it. The game so far is amazing, but this one annoying perk is so triggering.
Right now we have MH slots and OH slots. Lets say i have them all.
I have 1h weapon in 1st slot, bow in second, and 3rd one is empty. For OH i have a shield and a quiver.
How to i change from melee to bow? I need to press 2 buttons. To switch MH and to switch OH.
How do i switch back? I need to press 4(!!) buttons! Twice for MH, twice for OH. Coz empty hand still counts.
So, ideas:
I unlocked the third slot mainly to equip a weapon with passive concentration gain before boss fights. But during normal gameplay I only use two weapons, and the third slot completely breaks the flow of combat.
When cycling weapons, it forces me through slot 3 every time, which slows things down and messes with fast switching between my main two weapons.
It would be great to have one of the following options:
The ability to disable a weapon slot from the cycle
Separate keybinds for each weapon slot
Or the option to choose which slots are included in the weapon cycle
Right now, unlocking the third slot feels like a disadvantage if you prefer a fast 1-2 playstyle.

I believe the quick weapon and offhand switch feature is awesome and done very right! But we could benefit from an enable/disable feature as sometimes we do no use all of them and need to cycle multiple times to go from the second weapon to the first, or even worse, in the middle of the fight, accidentally tap the right button when we mean to heal and end up fighting with the fists.
This has been mentioned several times before. I can’t seem to find the thread again, but it’s a very highly requested feature.
We have not heard anything to suggest they are going to implement a feature to skip the third weapon slot. I just ended up creating a new character so I could avoid unlocking that extra slot, which feels really bad.
I literally just saw another thread making this same suggestion, and it’s not the first time. It seems like everyone wants this, and they have wanted it for a while.

I unlocked my third weapon slot just to spend my plague ichor, and now it screwed up my playstyle - I have to press the button twice to swap from weapon 2 to weapon 1 so I don’t get stuck with my fists out.
It would be a good solution to have a checkbox option to skip over empty slots for those of us who don’t want a fist toggle, either that or (even better) allow us to bind weapon slots directly, though this is a little challenging for controller setups.
Did the Devs mention anything about this issue? I’ve looked through the latest patch notes and there’s nothing about this at all, sadly
what about when using a 1-h weapon with no shield and needing to be able to switch:
from equipped torch
to empty offhand slot?

The solution is a simple toggle option so you get both behaviors? I’m pretty sure many people mentioned this in this thread.

Currently, if a player has unlocked the 3rd weapon slot but only carries 2 weapons, the game still cycles through the empty 3rd slot.
During intense combat, this is counter-intuitive because you have to press the switch button twice to get back from the 2nd weapon to the 1st one. This “dead air” in the rotation can lead to unnecessary mistakes.

This change would make the combat flow much smoother for players who prefer specialized builds with only one or two main weapons.
