After 100 hours of gameplay I still have only found 3 of my gems I want but all my gear is crafted. Can you exalt your gear and add a gem later or does exalting completely lock the item from doing anything? Probably an old post but I saw mention if you have a lesser gem in it exalting it upgrades the gem, I have many chipped versions of the gem, will it upgrade or is that bad info? TIA!
Yes You can, I constantly remove gems from exalted gear and insert new ones 
Gems have fixed Values now so it will NOT upgrade.(Values Set In Stone!)
But there are 2 Variants of the same Gem.
