Amazing Game but Needs Minor Tweaks

Hello, i am a Dark Souls and Diablo fanatic. I grew up playing these games and play them the most. I thoroughly enjoyed what the team has created with No Rest For the Wicked.
These are some changes that i recommend after around 100 hours of playing, solo and with friends, as a new player to the community.

  1. Favorite/Junk gear is a huge quality of life that No Rest For the Wicked really needs. The amount of times i have to go to drop off one piece of gear because i dont want to accidently sell/consume it is getting to be costly.
  2. A filter system to the gear would be great as well. In this way you dont have to look through so many items trying to find one enchant you want to extract with the embers for your endgame build.
  3. Shops should not refresh daily or 12 hours. To be fair i dont know how the timer works, but i would like to be about to check the shops with my friends as we play. Instead im trying to log in before them to grab the rare embers the shops sell because they are very few and far between. I see way too many Blood Embers before i start to see the others. Being that the essence embers are the main ones that matter you can hardly find them, even during the plague boss gameplay loop the end game provides. This also ties in to being locked behind a daily refresh for the plague effigies as well. After talking to my friends we have gathered that the idea of needing to log in everyday is a very good idea to get players to log in and play, but what i want to express is that you already have a masterpiece here. Your game is already enjoyable to sink your time into, you dont need to pace them this slow to complete a full build. My friends are wanting to complete their builds and do these cool things but simply dont have the resources/embers and give up entirely.
  4. Another thing for the shop is early game money is very scarce that you never even get to spend it. The only time we got to consistently buy things was at the very end of the game.
  5. I also wanted to share when youre playing with more people it is very hard to get resources. Most of my friends and I all play at the same time. Were always having to share resources and farm them in our free time which is unfortunate when we all want to play. An independent gear system would be amazing but i understand why you might not add it. When youre playing with someone who needs the resources, casters and slow pokes dont get many items drops for themselves. Unless other people leave them on the floor on purpose you wont get much

These are my big topics the others are minor.

  • The plague enemy that is fat and has the worm explosion death rattle has a combo that is very deadly that i think deserves a little nerf. Each swing hits for around 45 and you are animation locked for 5 swings. Kind of nuts.
  • I wish we had more house space because i find myself using the houses in other realms for refineries and chest storage instead of just being my house that has everything i own like a traditional home.
  • Ive noticed a bug with plague splatter when you dont use the auto lock, it will at times launch behind you into your team instead of where youre looking. Exaple im facing north at the enemies and cast the spell and get animation locked north and the plague splatter will go south instead.

My biggest take aways here would be favorite/junk gear, no daily shop refreshes, and more embers and resources please.

Good post! I like your angle, and agree with you for the most part. Here’s a quick reply from a random forum dweller (me)

  1. This should be coming! I think it was mentioned in one of the developer interviews.
  2. This might not happen, since the devs have indicated that they would rather loot filters just not be needed in the first place. I’m not sure how they will address this in the future, but it’s possible that the whole enchant system might just be reworked.
  3. Shops do refresh daily (real time) at 5AM in the local time of the realm. I understand the feeling of good items being quite scarce, and I’m not sure if this will be addressed in some way.
  4. Yeah, I feel this too. I had to ask my coop friend for money a lot until the ‘endgame.’ I will say though, the end of the game right now is less than half of the whole game when 1.0 will release. There will probably be more sources of money in the full game.
  5. This is completely intentional. They want you to have to share and coordinate.

Not much to say about the minor points, except the bloated enemy has a whole thread dedicated to them. I shared my opinion there, but a minor nerf would not affect them too much so I could go either way. Oh, and you can buy multiple houses in town. I have one to live/craft in, and one or two that are just warehouses full of chests.

As for the bug, if you can get a short video of it happening, you can make a thread just about the bug and it might be fixed based on your feedback!

You are animation locked because you have no poise. Cloth and leather both suffer from this issue. Having mesh or plate will allow you still roll out off the initial hits. All of my main builds are plate because of how valuable poise is to me. Embrace the heavy roll.

If you need more space, buy another house. There is an item from the crucible vendor you can get each day which allows you to place a portal in your house. This connects them all with a short loading screen. I have a house for crafting, a house for gear storage, a house for decorations and beds, etc. I’ve bought every house and they are all easy to get to via portals.
