Tried to keep a handy list, here are some bugs and feedback from my time in game I will try to organize them a bit after I write them all down but they are written in no particular order.
Fishing timer not being located on the fish where I can see the perfect pop up is a weird choice IMO, obviously not game breaking. Or the perfect could pop up on the Cerim?
Crafting pacing in the MP experince felt much better than the find a recipe, learn recipe. I still feel finding recipe’s have a place but for the common things research and learn is great.
Spell dmg, particularly frost nova, seems to get out of hand in my experience. I was hitting my kids for around 140 at level 22ish. They’re teens and got that it was friendly fire without too much griping but yeesh. Maybe tone that kind of huge aoe massive damage down when hitting friends? Not to mention at all that I was one shotting literally everything except bosses but even they were frozen in one hit. I actually stopped playing that character because it felt bugged or broken in an unfun, cheat code kinda way.
A high stamina bow build is basically cheating for trash mobs as well, feels good for bosses though. It seems to “light” stagger mobs on every hit, rendering them incapable of fighting back. Probably would be fine if you just removed that entirely but do with that info what you will.
Elemental damage feels really good and different, I think it’s in a good spot in general compared to physical damage. I didn’t get to play with bleeds at all sadly but the balance of output felt good and balanced which is quite rare for an ARPG, balance is a nightmare! There were of course outliers as seen above but for the most part well done.
A common complaint was local or global. I’d highly suggest being upfront with the math on items and what exactly stats do. PoE2 did this VERY well. I love PoE1, so my opinion may not fit the masses here but it’s worth mentioning anyway as that level of detail isn’t required but I think we need SOME clarity.
Barrier out of combat didn’t work at any point, not sure why, bug?
I liked the purple/red infected gear with the downside. The ability to reroll the downside feels really good, but the amount of total stats isn’t high enough to make getting good gear hard to get or exciting. Basically I think you need more trash stats like light radius or gold find etc. That way I can’t turn every decent piece I find into a perfect rare. Admittedly it does take SOME luck, but I did take a piece with no good stats and missing a stat AND the wrong downside stat and make it a perfectly viable piece for my build with 7 embers, and that feels really good but I don’t think I should be able to take a piece of gear that is worthless and make it almost good enough to use forever. Maybe less rerolls? 3 for blue 5 for purple? If you want some longevity you don’t want to go the D4 route where you can finish the game and get all the best shit in 3, 8 hour days.
One of my kids had a bug where his character would just take off running a random direction that couldn’t be stopped. I tried swapping controllers and keyboards with no luck. Not sure how to replicate or if it was my problem or yours.
There 5 total incidents where me or my kids nuked their gear and got the gem back instead of vice versa, gear lock? Just a suggestion, I can read so can everyone else but if it’s not too much trouble it would be nice of you to let us make it impossible. =D
I searched high and low for the teleport to Sacra rune in the experimental patch and found nothing. But I would like to report that I didn’t ever feel like I needed it anyway, I just wanted it. Another do what you want with that information. I didn’t feel like my time spent was ever being disrespected.
Speaking of respecting my time. I really appreciate you not making me make a special box to use my resources anywhere. But the boxes themselves are oddly shaped for how much space they have. The small box is the most effecient box, don’t do that…. Don’t make me min max my boxes. I want to use the best box but it takes up twice as much space as the medium box and 4 times as much space as the small box. No, just no. Make them all the same size as the medium and make the small on shit and big one best. I can’t make my house pretty if I need all the space for 2 of each refinery and 4 beds and boxes. And I know the argument will be buy another home, but we don’t want to run to a different place further away to sleep, we’re trying to be efficient and this is my opinion. Or if you want to leave the models the same double the space each step up so I can use the big one and not feel robbed of space in my house. Please!
The box rant is really how I feel but it won’t break me. The only thing I truly felt that disrepected me was durability stats. If I die twice I have to repair? Why make me do that. And it seems the solution is making tons of repair powder to keep gear in top shape but I’d rather just never use that and repair when my gear is at 20% or w/e. Why do you want me to stop playing the game every 2 death’s. I didn’t like that mechanic at all. If I’m fighting a hard boss and dying over and over which happened a few times before we got too OP I don’t want to stop every single time to go repair to make sure I’m in tip top shape. Especially if we are out of powder. It made me actually sour on the game for the first and only time. It felt like it wasn’t thought through at all. I would rather not be punished for putting in effort and time learning a boss, felt crazy disrespectful. Not sure how it could be fixed without just throwing those stats in the trash, but to be fair that’s what I think you should do with every durability stat. Pure garbage imo.
In the vein of stats a few of them felt so strong that it trivialized the game. One of my kids who was playing a plate tank build had something like 80 regen in combat which isn’t even close to cap and he was basically unkillable. I think cap with just armour is 120, maybe 150 with a shield if it can get that stat on a shield? If the goal is to eventually let the players just literally spit in the games face it’s fine but some of that stuff can get out of hand. Focus regen was much more in line with what I thought would be a reasonable amount. A thorns block build is just brutally over powered with decent items. He could just lift his shield and afk till it was all dead. It was funny. But if that’s not the goal some things worth looking at. As I said earlier something getting wildly out of hand isn’t so much a big deal but it’s so easy to get there. As early as level 7ish I had 40% crit chance, which isn’t game breaking in the end game but early game it’s kinda game breaking. Maybe set max rolls for gear with lower i levels?
To end on a positive note, nothing listed here besides the dura stats and the actual bugs are game breaking. I had an incredible time playing this and now I’m sad it rolled back to the less than ideal patch we had before the multiplayer beta. I hope this game goes to live service as well as one of my kids could just turn on a cheat program and just do w/e he wanted really and he did it just to see if he could and it worked np. Then I fussed and he stopped but I can’t fuss at a stranger lol. I mean I can but fussing at people over the internet is.. well… fucking stupid.
The game is 10/10 already, even if the game just grows over time and I can pump money into it with cosmetics or something I will happily pay more to keep this train going. I loved Ori1/2 but my greatest love is ARPG’s. I have 15K hours in PoE1, probably close to that in Diablo 2 and PD2 I own D4 but it unfortunatly didn’t resonate with me. But please don’t side line this game. I’d love to provide endless feedback for you and spend crazy amounts of cash on worthless digital goodies just like in PoE1! Much love Moon Studios! Keep up the EXCELLENT work!
