Where to start Roots That Bind

i have finished these quests and when i tried to investigate marin forest there was a gate that i couldnt open no matter what so i searched and it seems you need to get a quest from will called “Roots that bind” but i cant get it, it is bugged i need help

Have you tried to trigger the quest by going to the merchant near whisper in Marketplace?

Might be that you haven’t handed the letter to Ellsworth in the War Room either. The bug is reported with some frequency. Perhaps something in here can be of use:

Roots That Bind Quest bugged

Hi there! I am running across an issue getting the Roots That Bind quest from Will. After the event in the city plaza after defeating Darak in the sewers I did not speak to Will and moved onto finishing the Nameless Pass and Lowland Meadows quest lines. I’ve explored most of Marin Woods’ map until I realized it needs to be unlocked via Will’s quest. When I go to Will now he’s located at the blacksmith station and will not mention anything about Marin Woods. Would love to progress the storyline …

Alright when i talk with winnick outside the ellsworth quest door outside war room and entered the room and saw the cutscene where ellsworth and odessa talks(but didnt give the letter to ellsworth) i was able to get the roots that bind quest from will thanks Konrad!
