For such gloriously meaty feeling weaponry, the animations of enemies being felled is left to be desired. Don’t get me wrong, gibs and squish sounds are lovely! But it isn’t exactly responsive to our combat moves. It needs to be far more visceral.
-
Backstab with a Blunt weapon like a spiked mace (which means smashing them into the floor), I would expect them to slowly become mush and/or splat apart into gib pieces on the spot I’ve clobbered them.
-
Claymores/Swords - If committing a final spiral swing from claymores, slicing the enemy in half would feel very responsive.
-
Daggers - Decapitation or specific limb sliced off.
-
Elemental weaponry/affixes are arguably the most lacking.
- Enemies shocked from lightning could be shocked and burnt to a crisp.
- Ice - shatter into pieces.
- Fire - screaming and burning alive (maybe flailing to pat themselves out).
- Plagued - Vomiting as they collapse.
-
Bow - Grabbing the arrow shot into them, as they collapse.
