EDIT: It has come to my understanding that these are meant to be relaxed non-combat idles, and during combat idle the grips look much better. However, some misalignment can still be observed in combat at the end of some recovery animations, where attack animations will play towards their ending keyframe of the the non-combat idles resulting in some brief sliding motions on the grips.
Posting this here because I am a greatsword enjoyer
I have noticed some issues regarding the way the Cerim holds various greatswords with their hands in the idle animation posture that may have been overlooked by the animators and weapon 3D mesh modelers.
Some of the greatswords have their hand-grip placements too low on the hilt. As in, there is too wide of a gap between the Cerim’s right hand and the sword’s crossguard. The greatswords in this game are already massive in size, so holding the weapon in this manner makes them appear even larger and longer, resulting in an imbalanced and in my opinion, flimsy looking visual silhouette when in the resting idle position.
Some greatswords, like the Claymore and Icebreaker look correct, but most of the other ones have this issue to some degree. Basically, there should preferably be less space between the right hand and the crossguard, and more space between the left hand and the pommel. I understand this is a fantasy game but I am a nerd so this matters to me for the sake of immersion and visual presentation.
Because as a new forum member I am restricted to posting a single media file I have compiled some screenshots into a single image to illustrate the issues I have observed.
Hope the devs share my opinions on this! May seem like nitpicks but the visual presentation and polish of the game’s animations are super important!
