Updates and discussions from the official Discord

Yes I have the same concern, although I’m happy if they release sooner. Least I can do is hoping for the best

Agreed, these type of statements scare me a little, we havent seen any other town like Tyr or Havensport, the world is kind of small, i dont like the idea of rushing to the finish line, if they plan to release next year.

We still have coop and class/job overhaul updates, which might take a few updates and hotfixes to get it right, so these 2 major updates will take the rest of the year, i hope they add more to this wonderful world, im really looking forward to visiting the rest of the island.

One thing the devs could do to make the island bigger than it seens is going the way of map traveling, after finishing the area around sacrament we could travel to other zones like Havensport or Tyr through the map, you know, indiana jones style red line or dots on a overworld map, i just hope they dont rush us to the tainted city / final boss fight without expanding the world.

thomas said the planned updates coop/combat etc will come. and there wll be more updates after 1.0

so i am not really scared. he also posted a video of 3rd person, and a menu option to set camera to 3rd person. if that makes it into the final product tho, i can not say.

sadly i can’t upload the video here, but you could search in discord wicked general chat i think.

i also did not have much time yesterday and only posted what seems to be the most important info to me. maybe someone else made screenshots and can share the rest of the conversation.

screaming and crying and puking :sob: I need this game

I can see the game being constantly updated like BG3 was, in 3 years it got so many updates and fixes it turned into such a refined piece of art I can’t

Remember that there are different work departments. Thomas has said that multiplayer it’s about technology and adjustment with quantum (a 3rd party) and not development.

Different stuff like classes and balancing are managed by different people. And there is the people who really create and do level desing, so all this time while Breach’s updates happened, patchs and similar stuff, level designers have been working on content.

First preview of the Compendium:

From Thomas: “This is what we’re thinking regarding the compendium - it’s a huge list that you fill in and the scholars in the Sacrament Library will reward you when you bring enough info to them, etc.”

First preview of the Class screen:

From Thomas: “Here’s an early mockup for the classes screen that’ll replace the Attributes Screen. So instead of just putting a few points into this or that attribute, you’ll instead look into the various classes and gain Class Points to learn various Character Traits and those you can then equip on your character in order to build whatever class you want. Obviously we have a lot more power with something like this cause it’s not just ‘numbers go up’, but we’ll unlock entire features (for example, Assassins could have a trait that makes you harder to see when you’re in stealth mode, etc.) and it should make leveling a lot more satisfying and can be guided if you want that. As in, if you’re hell-bent on playing an Assassin, you don’t need to look up on a Wiki which attributes you need to level for that, but you just look into the Assassin Class and try to master all the items and traits in there and you should be good to go.

Keep in mind that this was just the mockup, so the portraits, some designs / layouts and so on will obviously still change.

But ultimately I think this solves the issues we had with the Attribute System. Instead of building a ‘Strength + Faith’ character, we make it simple by just saying that you’re now building a ‘Knight’ - and then you can immediately see how the Designers laid out the Knight, which weapons are assigned to that class, which character traits are assigned to that class, etc. - so it should be a lot more straight forward for newcomers while ALSO giving players who already played a ton a lot more power over their builds since they could literally mix and match whatever they want without having to respec and rebuild their entire character build.”

Q: Wait so we can switch classes on the go? if so that’s a insane amount of content, man I want to max out every class! holy hell that’s gonna be so much fun! instead of just being locked to one class at a time, to have the freedom to do this? like today I wanna play as a sorcher and maybe tomorrow I wanna switch things up and play as a paladin and soon! that would be sick!

A (from Thomas): That’s exactly the idea, yes. You’ll just be able to unlock and try everything, but… mastering all classes is gonna take a long amount of time.

I’m glad they’re including this compendium. In fact, it was one of the improvements I mentioned that could be added to help understand the world’s lore. I hope this compendium helps players delve into the lore more easily. Again, thank you for your work. To the entire team.

While I’m glad this is on the way, I wanna point out a couple of things…

  1. Why is Priest an INT class?
  2. I see we have a greatstaff for Spellwardens and a Bonestaff but where is the holy theme staves at?

Cool, Priest has Tome, Exorcist has Censer but why no staff weapons for these classes? I’m not even gonna consider Pilgrim since they’re more of a martial class.

Atributes wont exist anymore, so classes will only be attached to weapons type, one weapon per class. There is no holy magic type. Remember that everything you see on those screenshots are placeholders.
