POE+Dark souls

i dont think complex skilltree system from poe is a good implementation for this game. for dark souls style games more simplicity is the thing and it is more involved in the weapons rather than skilltree. i still like to see some type of skilltree implemented with inchor but not that extend

Honestly, thereā€™s no point to anything this complex these days. Everyone just copies builds from maxroll anyways.

Iā€™d rather the complexity lay in the actual motions of the combat.

Disagree, the last thing the genre needs is another POE style skill tree. If you want a game like that then wait for POE2, because this probably ainā€™t it.

Itā€™s less about complexity and more about fine tuning the character

fine tuning

Itā€™s not the complexity, itā€™s the value. The game will have ā€œthe actual motions of the combat.ā€ and fine tuning = double valueness

motions of the combat and fine tuning!!!

Iā€™d rather devs spend time fine tuning combat and making it as smooth as possible, than nonstop tweaking of a burdensome skill tree that no doubt gets exploited in some way each new patch.

Meanwhile the playerbase just nonstop respecs to whatever flavor of the moment build is in meta.

Hardcore disagree. Having most variation come from your gear is the right move from this game. Maybe some more variability from an expansion to plague ichor, or some other unique gameplay-ingrained system later in the game.

But skill points like POE? No please

I canā€™t say a big skill tree is the key to enjoyment.

Sometimes, to get ahead in some area of professional endeavor, you have to do a hybrid between ā€œtwo gamesā€¦ā€.

This is my own passive skill network with transformation possibilities

What you see in the video

Thousands of little gray nodes, different colored unique jewels that can be rotated.
We can rotate 9 hexagons at a time with nodes and unique jewels.
You see blue circles - light inside and dark circles away from the center.
In the center the values of all nodes are multiplied by 100% - that is, in the center the nodes and unique jewels become the strongest. On the next lighter circle, the nodes and gems are multiplied by 80% - that is, they become weaker

The field of nodes can be infinite and 1407th node away from the center can only have a very small value.
Blue circles can be as many as you want.

On the example you can see how we increase the strength of yellow nodes by moving them to the center

This type of transformation gives countless combinations of nodes and jewels

The devs has directly told us theyā€™re avoiding needless complexity like this ir DIV. Weapons, runes, and stats are enough, imho. Probably a skill tree or feats, but nowhere near this level of complexity.
