This is a suggestion on magic caster playstyles and single weapon combat. Class system feedback and why its a good idea

Hello! I just want to start by saying how incredibly grateful I am that I bought this game two years ago. I stepped away for a while to let more content cook, and coming back has been an awesome surprise. I was so impressed that I even convinced three friends to buy the game this week.

Your team seriously deserves a ton of love for what you’re building here—this is shaping up to be one of my favorite games of all time (right up there with Dark Souls 3).

Now, onto magic casting. I really think the game could benefit from a palm-style casting option, along with spell animations designed around it. Think Skyrim casting versus Dragon’s Dogma. Using a staff or wand makes it feel like the power is being channeled through an object, rather than coming from within the character. Casting directly from the palms would add a completely different flavor to magic and make it feel much more personal and visceral.

On a similar note, for one-handed weapons (like daggers), it would be great to have a stronger incentive to give up a shield. Right now, shields offer so many stats that it’s hard to justify not using one. Having meaningful trade-offs here would really support different playstyles and flavor choices.

As for the class system rework—I think it’s a genuinely brilliant idea. The point-based, soul-style leveling system is solid, but it naturally encourages optimization and efficiency over roleplay and immersion. The direction you’re heading feels much closer to a Skyrim-style approach, where you get better at what you actually use. That makes choices feel more impactful and rewarding for character development and roleplay, while still allowing room for optimization later on.

Overall, it’s a fantastic direction for the game and something that will absolutely support long-term replayability.
