Technical Issue - Game crashed, game corrupted right after

Hello. I’m reporting this on this forum by suggestion of a developer when I reported this issue on the Steam discussion forum ( No Rest for the Wicked :: Steam Community ). As I said there, I’m playing this game on a Linux distro (Zorin) through Steam. Played the game for 40+ hours, experience some bugs along the way but nothing serious until I got to ‘The Lost Huntress’ boss. When I got there the game chashed and closed. When I open the game again and continue playing the game loaded this (1.jpg). Did not allow me to do anything, the character did not load and basically I was completely stuck there on that screen. I closed the game, then reopen it again and then it loaded this screen (2.jpg). Same story, character does not load, game does not allow me to do anything despise showing me my character with all of their stats at the main page of the game (3.jpg).

The bug persist up to this date and I added a video showing this (Bug Video.mkv). As you can see there I open the game just as usual and it shows there everything that I describe in the previous paragraph.

On step 1 I could grab the file ‘Player.log’ and the ‘DataStore’ folder but could not find the ‘Player-prev.log’ file. As I mentioned I’m working on linux so I might need a bit more guidance on how to find that file. On step 5 I’m also a bit stuck, when I search for that file I found several ones and I really don’t know wich one exactly is the want you want me to execute, I added an screenshot of this so you can understand what I mean (dxdiag search.png).

Took me a bit of time to report this bug since I’m a bit busy at my job and new on Linux and Steam also, but here it is. If there is any more information I could provide I would be glad to do so as soon as I can. Thank you in advance. Absolutely amazing game!

The good news is your files are not corrupted so I was able to load into your character and realm without issue.

I’m not sure how it works on your linux setup, it’s not a platform we officially support, but you should see how you can verify the installation of the game - Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files

Hello. It didn’t work. It showed me the message “All 24207 files successfully validated”. Opened the game after that and tried again but nothing, just the same issue.

I have good news though.

I was thinking about some other stuff that could work, maybe try different versions of the compatibility layer (Proton) to play the game. One thing that I decided to try was on: Properties → Betas → Beta Participation → ‘crucible_legacy - Crucible legacy build’. Selected that option, Steam immediately installed that beta version, I opened the game and did not show me my character saved so I decided to go back to ‘None’; and right after Steam installed back again the previous version I decided to open the game again and Surprise!. Game working normal now. My character loads just in the saving point I left it. I’m able to continue playing now. :rofl: . I have no idea what happened there and don’t know for how long it will last, but just to let you know, that magically solved the issue.
