Shared Realm co-op: add a “Boss Encounter Ahead” tell / ready-check before story bosses
In co-op shared realms, it’s currently easy to accidentally trigger a story boss/cutscene solo (e.g., Warrick has no clear “fog gate” style tell). I advanced expecting a fog wall tell and accidentally triggered the cutscene/encounter solo. This is rough for groups who want to experience first-time story bosses together while still allowing asynchronous progress in the realm.
Request: Add a shared-realm “Boss Encounter Ahead” tell and/or a party confirmation (ready check) before triggering story boss cutscenes/encounters. This is mainly for story/major bosses (the ones with cutscenes).
Possible Implementations
Option A: Realm setting toggle (lets players choose the vibe) - my ideal solution
-
Add an optional realm rule like:
-
“Story Lock: require all members present for story bosses/cutscenes”
-
Or “Pause story triggers when a party member is offline” (still allows exploration/loot/crafting)
-
Option B: “Boss Ahead” tell (lightweight)
-
A short on-screen banner when you enter a trigger volume: “Boss Encounter Ahead”
-
A small map/compass icon visible in shared realms
Option C: Party “Ready Check” (best for story bosses)
-
In a shared realm, crossing the boss trigger pops:
-
“Start story boss encounter?”
-
Start now / Wait
-
If other realm members are online, show a “Summon / notify party” button
-
Option D: “Replay cutscene at the gate” fallback
-
Even if someone triggers it early, allow other players to:
- interact with the boss gate later to replay the intro cutscene before fighting
