Rune attacks, especially projectile, are missing stationary targets after patch

Something has changed with the tracking and hitboxes.

Spirit Burst is outright missing a stationary wolf or Goliath mob that is just standing there without moving or dashing when I cast the rune attack at them.

Playing on controller, so mouse pointer isn’t aiming somewhere else.

Fells really bad when rune attacks are just not hitting targets or the targeting is wonk and it fires the rune attack at something else like an environmental object.

I’m also running into the same issue with my Rune-Stricken Wand.

Also using controller and prior to patch all shots from Plague Barrage would track and hit all shots.

Now after patch all shots don’t track, shoot in a straight line and misses almost all the time.

Another thing I’ve noticed is the 4 hit combo use to leave a plague area on the ground and now after the patch it only does a standard four swing attack with the wand. Not sure if this was intentional.

Yes, they removed the whole exploding plague pustule from the last part of the attack chain when you slam down with the wand.

Pretty lame to take impressive visuals away from the attack chain.

If anything you want wands and staff to have magical ranged attack chains instead of being glorified clubs/hammers.

Had this happen prior to the patch as well.

  • Make sure the “target” setting didn’t get turned off.

Yup, it’s on, but this issue is that the rune attacks themselves even when you have a lone enemy targeted are just whiffing by them despite the locked on and stationary nature of the enemy, even on large enemies that should have a large hitbox.

This mainly happens with projectile rune attacks and projectile spell effects.

Stuff like Tremor Wave is much more reliable.

But something with this patch broke spell projectile tracking and enemy hitbox registration.

Spirit Burst is just a huge culprit right now. Not that there is much point to using Spirit Burst because it does significantly less damage and stagger damage than tremor wave, and it’s only upside is it can apply a little bit of lightning build up and chain a bit of damage to nearby enemies, but it’s negligible.

And both cost 50 focus while tremor wave can also cleave nearby enemies in the trajectory of the line.

Targeting has gotten worse with this patch, I’ve also found problems with meele and it’s more evident with weapons like the rapier, I mention it here too: I really Like the new Bows but they are Not yet “Fully Cooked”.

-Edit shouldn’t ledge protection be something that is put at lowest difficulty?

It certainly has ever since ledge protection came it might not be related but there’s an additional calculation to make? I can’t use lightning leap to jump off ledge and strike an enemy from above anymore.. :sob:

What I mean is I don’t think the ledge protection calculation is set on specific runes where it would need to make this calculation, I think it do that calculation for all runes. (Yes I’m 99% sure I’m wrong)
