Revive Echo not working in Crucible

My brother and I am playing alot in the Crucible, but everytime we get the “revive on death” Echo, and we die, we do not come back to life. Are we misunderstading the Echo, or missing something…or is the echo bugged? It doesnt matter whether we get the grey revive, blue og epic Echo, eihter way it doesnt bring us back to life when we die.

Kind regards

Sune

TL;DR: Could be bugged, could be hard to notice.

It’s not just you – my friends kept telling me the same in coop, with a special focus on the last chamber. I’ve definitely seen it working for me though, so maybe the echoes are not triggering under certain conditions, such as taking an excessive amount of damage in one hit.

There’s another option I am cautiously willing to consider: There is no special effect when you revive, nor any post-revive immortality. As a consequence, it is very possible to miss one’s first accidental death. As far as I know, there is no indicator anymore of the echo being active or used up – there used to be one in the buff bar. So perhaps the echoes are working?

Might be one of those bugs that vanish under close examination, but I have neither time nor the recordings of full Crucible runs with the bug to check for prior unnoticed deaths. The next few times I find the echo, I’ll deliberately cause myself to die in a way that’s easily checked.

(The echoes will never bring you back from falling damage, but I am sure that’s not what we’re talking about.)

Thx alot for the reply, always nice to know we are´nt doing anything wrong

Hey FoxMulder, thanks for the report!

There’s been more users who think it’s broken, but this is probably one of the few things we really need video evidence of.

If you are able to, can you make that happen?

Silas

I could surely try, but I really have no idea how to do it, I’m not very tech wise

I’ve repeated the experiment several times. The echoes worked every time.

In fact, there is one more thing I discovered: The hypothesis (expressed here, for instance) that excessive damage would ‘go through’, as it were, and kill despite a revive echo can likely be discarded. Observe as I take 125 damage while I’m at 31 health in this example, and I am restored to 162 (which is within rounding distance of 322/2):

The excess damage is not being applied to my post-revive health, which I take to mean that the entire hit is ignored. I suppose it’s still possible that damage exceeding 31+162 would oneshot me through the echo. I’ll see about clipping a counter-example if I can.

(The echoes could really do with having their heart icon restored, or have an obvious visual effect, and like many others I believe they should grant a second’s worth of invulnerability.)

Just curious, but could you tell me how the revive Echoes are meant to work?

Thx for the link Conrad. So If I am to correctly understand how the revive echoe currently works, then It works like this: I fight and get hit for more than my health, but It doesnt show me dying and coming back in an animation or some other indicator, I just fight on with the extra life percentage the revive echo gives me? That would explain why I didnt notice that I died and “came back” I would say that they definetly need to make a revive animation and give you a couple of seconds to get back into the action, or push you out to the pool, and let you enter it again. That would be a proper way of letting you know your echo is in effect.

Hello again Silas,

From what I have read on your forums, the revive echoes does trigger, but the issue is you rarely notice it. This, I believe, is because there is no graphic indication/sound or animation, and when it triggers you most often - in my case always it would seem- die instantly because the hit points the revive echo grants is´nt enough to prevent my death. From my perspective that´s probably why I/ we did´nt think it worked. My suggestion would be to make the use of the revive echo more obvious, an animation or sound, or maybe just make the player enter the fight again through the puddle in the lobby

I hope Konrad’s answer is sufficient, I couldn’t have said it better myself!

@Konrad good stuff, I’ll escalate this!
