RECREATABLE BUG - Bounty/Challenge UI Overlay duplication - step by step guide- The Breach, Hotfix 3

This bug is easy to recreate. (on my hardware at least)

I first encountered this bug on hotfix 2 (didn’t play on earlier versions), reencountered it on hotfix 3 and decided to make this post. The following fidnings are a result of 2 hours of testing.

SET UP:

  1. Talk to Captain Randolph
  2. Make sure you have the challenge active, that you would switch to when changing tabs, I just activated all
  3. Preview a bounty’s rewards (this is neccessary, because it significantly increases load time after/when accepting a bounty. I have been unable to recreate it without this step in 30 min of testing)

RECREATION - fast input segment

  1. While in preview: Accept the bounty. The instant the input is actually accepted (VFX is a good indicator) immediately switch to challenges, and press abandon. (I presume the game needs to be loading the bounty still, while you perform these inputs) To summarize: ACCEPT → SWITCH TAB → ABANDON
  2. If it worked, you should now see a doubled bounty overlay, like the screenshot attatched. If not, try again (I am also not super consistent with my inputs as the timing is pretty tight)
  • This bug is stackable
  • This bug can be created by going from challenges to bounties instead as well, just swap the instructions around

EFFECTS:

  • the glitched overlay cannot be closed, opening and closing the bounty menu in the background doesn’t fix this
  • all inputs work as regular in the barely conceivable background, however on controller while opening a sub menu like the “Quit game” menu, the D-pad inputs, will instead navigate the glitched menu
  • the camera follows the cerim while putting them into the bottom left corner of the screen
  • fast travel does not fix this bug

RELOADING BUG & GETTING RID OF IT:
In this state the regular menu can be used to close the game. If this is done to Desktop, the bug is gone and you can reopen the game in a normal state. If instead closed to menu, the game will be opened in a somewhat glitched state instead:

  • the bounty UI if opened again will be glitched in that the bounty used to perform the glitch before the quit will be shown as inactive when active or active when inactive, depending on what state you quit in. Closing and reopening the menu will seemingly fix this, but once the bounty shows “Active”, because it either was or you re-accepted it it will be permanently in this state
  • the “abandon bounty/challenge” menu will load with delay and inconsistently
  • If closing and realoading is done too quickly, talking to Randoph again leads to a crash, this crash seems consistent (I put two crash-logs into the files, but it happened more often)
  • when trying to recreate the bug in this glitched load, sometimes the game will, after a short delay (0,5-3 seconds on my hardware), fix itself. This however leads to a bug where, when you talk to Randolph again, the bounties will not be loaded. Ending the conversation and talking to him again fixes this however.
