Quest dialogue / next stage of Crucible is unlocked even when boss is not defeated

I have defeated the first phase of the boss (with mount) but was killed on the second.

Here is what the quest text shows:

Except I haven’t felled them, I died at the second phase.

It’s almost like the first phase boss death triggered the quest text, when it should have been the last phase death?

Steps to repro:

1. Kill Cyvion in first phase;
2. Die in second phase;
3. Quest is updated with new dialogue that does not match what happened.

Note that the next level is still locked (if I am correct in assuming levels are unlocked while going up the stairs, as I am still on the first level).

There currently only is one level.

Seems like you encountered an interesting bug though.

i can confirm this always happens to my new characters too if i die in phase 2

Yeah I agree this is an interesting one.

I don’t think the quest should advance just by slaying the horror horse, but the actuall Echo Knight hehe.
