Hi everyone,
The combat and atmosphere in No Rest for the Wicked are incredible, and I think they provide the perfect foundation for a highly endgame loop activity. I’d love to suggest a new matchmaking dungeon system based on PvPvE Extraction mechanics.
The core idea is to drop a group of matched players into a dangerous, multi layered dungeon where they must fight enemies, gather the best loot they can find, survive encounters with other players, and find a way out before they die.
Here is how the system could work, divided into key mechanics:
Matchmaking & Gear Brackets
To keep things fair and skill-based, players would queue up via matchmaking based on specific entry conditions:
The Zero Bracket: Players enter completely naked with no gear. You have to scavenge for weapons and armor as soon as you spawn to survive.
Capped Gear Score Brackets: Players can bring their own gear, but there are strict power limits
Danger Levels: Dungeons have varying tiers of difficulty. Higher tiers have tougher PvE enemies and better loot, but attract highly skilled PvP players.
2. The Core Loop: PvPvE & Extraction
Once inside, players are not only fighting the environment PvE but also each other PvP.
High Stakes (Full Loot): The rule is simple if you successfully extract, you keep everything you found. If you die, you drop everything you brought in and everything you looted (not sure).
Dynamic Exits: Extraction points shouldn’t always be open. For example, players might need to defeat a specific Elite PvE enemy to get a Gate Key, or extraction portals might only open in the final 5 minutes of the match and so on.
3. Additional Ideas
The Creeping Plague: To prevent players from camping in one spot.
The Wicked Mark: If a player kills too many other players in the dungeon, they get marked on the map for everyone else. This puts a massive target on their back, but successfully extracting while Marked could grant a massive bonus multiplier to their loot.
Dungeon Contracts: Players could pick up bounties before entering
A system like this would give players a massive adrenaline rush, provide an endless endgame loop.
Would love to hear what the community and developers think of this!
