I dont seem to be the only person being drawn to this genre for the first time, and stumbling over the frustration. I heard it was best with a controller, and hooked up my PS5 controller to Windows 10 and it ran great, but the game assumes an Xbox controller, so the tools tips are not represented on my controller.
Repeated death destroys your gear, which destroys the fun in the beginning when trying to get used to the genre. This can be EASILY addressed by having a respawn rate on bad guys in the prologue, so you can train and get used to game mechanics as long as you wish before leaving and entering the game. This gives Souls noobs such as myself a way to learn before dumped into the cold reality of Souls challenge. Instead, I die until all my gear is destroyed and end up naked because there is nothing further I am capable of killing for new gear. Turn off the gear damage in the prologue (may already be off), and allow gearing up as training wheels. Players accustomed to Souls games can run thru the prologue, so they are not affected at all. Easy peazy.
This game seems awesome, but it needs to account for those that fall into it thinking it is something it isnt (D4 clone), and bringing fresh blood to the genre. In its current state I could not recommend the game to a non-souls player.
Not being a souls player myself, I found the game to be tough at the start but I persisted, learning the mechanics and the in’s/out’s of the game and I’m doing just fine.
Why are so many players looking for hand holding in games? The part of gaming is to figure it out, learn and adjust your game play to succeed. For me, I don’t want the game to figure it out for me, that’s what I here to do and why I purchase the game.
You are putting words into my post that do not exist.
I said the exact opposite: use the prologue as a training ground to learn the basics before being thrown into the deep water. A simple re-spawning of targets is all it would take. And tool tips that actually match the controller being used.
if you want to train in the prologue area, just start another realm. I currently have 6 realms right now, mostly for storage but I’ve also been farming the bosses and what ever else I find.
I’ve also deleted many realms just to start a new realm, make the game work for you Cheers
