Hello NRFTW community!
This game is great on many levels, and my family and I have been having a blast playing it since we bought it ~ 2 months ago. As long time gamers in the ARPG genre and other fantasy and souls like games (loosely), and huge Valheim fans - this game delivers on many levels that are near and dear to what we like to play.
I’ve clocked a solid 300 hours in game so far but can easily see myself spending A LOT of time playing here - lots of potential builds, we need more content - and have built 3 heroes so far, with one reaching max level and ‘end game’ crucible sweeps and pestilence farming. I’ve tried range and melee, light to heavy variants - but I keep going to my tried and true heavy tanky sword and board for solo and group play with family.
So my number one weapon and playstyle thus far is, hands down:
Rusty Khopesh with a Fire infusion gem, great shield with double fire damage on block (AoE pulse) and physical damage on block. So DoT / thorns in a sense.
Running heavy for the stagger with half mesh, half plate. Pumping STR and STAM, and enough health, focus and weight allowance to make it work. Little lifesteal and some health regen gems and just smooth sailing on the harder difficulty.
The playstyle with that weapon is super fast general attacks, almost ranged with the dash attack and some movement speed, heavy rune attacks will one-tap most non bosses (1k+ damage, nothing special but really fun to see). While being pretty tanky with all of the block and reflect damage.
That said, I am curious as to what the community feels is the most fun or satisfying weapon to play with in this game. I understand range versus melee, 1Hader and 2Hander preferences - I’ve played as many variants I can so far but we all enjoy our archetypes. And for me, this weapon swapping type of game play reminds me a good bit of the New World MMO (RIP), but better combat here.
What weapon or weapon combos are just fun, efficient, and satisfying to play? No wrong answers.
