Gameplay. mostly runes/weapons etc

Hello, in the past week/two weeks, i have been playing No rest for the weeked as much as I got the chance, which is a bit harder since i am in my thirties, and work 8h job. STILL! this game blew me away. It so soo good, and even now, probably my new favorite ARPG, if you can categorize it like this.
My background is that i used to play a lot of path of exile and torchlight, not counting diablo here since they went a bit to the casual side, and now i have been playing poe2, and I think no rest for the wicked is in a much better direction to be the next step for the arpg evolution than any other game here.

But, i am here to give feedback.
I approached this game more from a roleplay perspective, and not to min/max. My idea was to go str/int built. I dont mind that there are specific weapons for specific gameplay style (talking about which weapons scale with what), however, when i reach a it of an endgame, crucible, plagues etc, i ran into a bit of a problem.
As suggested up above, i did not mid/max, but my idea was that i should be a warlock from dnd, sword in one hand, wamd/book in another, and cast spells while also being able to fight.

  1. Current system does not allow this. Runes can be slotted in secific weapons, and even though it seems i can slot one-handed and two handed runes in wands and staff, the opposite does not apply. It would be cool though to be able to cast a fireball while holding a sword :3
  2. I switched to faith and strength at one point. Reasons being, i was running a onehanded sword and a staff, and switching between those two. my staff, despite me trying to make my build around sword and spell, was doing most of the damage, even though staff scaled with only int, and not both. And then i realized how much stronger twohanded sword/weapons are compared to one handed. Again, the design is such that if my maind hand has a weapon, I MUST put a shield in my off hand, otherwise i am looking aaaaa looooot. And i mean a lot. My damage seemed to be trippled, stagger was insane, lighting proc was in two hits, and my rune attacks, which i focused my build on, delt insane damage. And that is how i became a paladin with a longsword, a straight str/faith build.
But, i ran into another problem now. I couldnt equip anything else like a staff or wand, since late game, they all require you to have either 36 faith or 36 int.
So, now i am left only to smite my foes in true paladin fassion xD

Some suggestions for builds:
I didnt really went too deep into systems, seeing how i have an 8 hour job, but I took my time here to give my feedback.
I understand that the goal of game devs is not to allow my fantasy up above (sword and sorcery), but hey, i wanted to give it none the less.
So, suggestions →

  1. If i hold a onehanded weapon and my off hand is empty, double the damage/stagger/whatever goes with it (or 1.5 it). I am taking a dnd as an example and pathfinder where you can twohand your onehanded weapons and still get the benefits of them being close to power as their twohanded counterparts. this opens more weapons for build options while still allowing sword and shield fantasy :3
  2. Off hand needs more options. Give me a sword and grimoare options. A sword and ward options. And allow me to slot spells there, if you dont want them to be sloted in one-handed weapons that are not staff/wand. I mean, gandalf could carry a sword and a staff, would be pretty cool if i could too. :3
I dont know if you want to give us more weapons/shield/book options, but this is just a suggestion :3
  3. Builds feel pretty simple yet very good. The only problem i ran into was… it took me a good few hours to understand what is what and how it functions. Not a bit deal for arpg fans, as we are used to seeing that tree from poe2, but, but turn off some people. If it is possible to simplify it, i would try to do that.

That is all. On other field, i have to give my best to the team. The world, the characters, the atmophere, the artstyle, the movement, the music… simply everything, is beautiful. The feel of combat is amazing.

And i understand that i played the game wrong, since i wanted to do a build that is, as i myself stated, not optimal but more roleplay, but still, a man can hope hehe :3

I am happying to be a part of this journey, and i cant wait to play more even if this game is not finished yet, i am having a blast with it \p/
